Hello Bishop Woods families!

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day weekend with family and friends.

Parents, we are down to the last 14-½ days of school and the children are excited for trips, events and for a well deserved summer break. Please continue to encourage and reinforce behavioral and academic expectations, so all students can participate in the activities and end the year with a strong finish.

Ms. Hope Howard’s girl’s group “The Young and the Beautiful Movement” will be celebrating their 7th year on May 28, 2024 at 3:30 pm-5:00pm in the cafeteria. Parents are invited to attend. We are excited that Dr. Negron will be attending this Celebration.

On May 31st, we have our 1st annual Special Person’s Sneaker Ball in the cafe from 6:00-8:00. See flyer for event details.

The Superintendent is conducting an Attendance Challenge now through the end of the school year. Bishop Woods has been given prizes (Tablets, Firesticks, Echos, etc.) that will be raffled to the students with the highest attendance rate from April 1st to June 14th. Also, the K-8 school in New Haven with the highest growth towards their attendance goal will receive a party. Help us win this contest by sending your children to school EVERY DAY!

To support this event and to keep our students coming to school daily, we will also host a Bishop Woods May /June Attendance Challenge.

• For each week, the homeroom with the highest attendance will be awarded a prize and will receive a 1st Place trophy. 2nd and 3rd place will also be acknowledged.

• Each week, the trophies will be passed to the three classes with the highest attendance.

• On June 14th, the class with the highest attendance from May 28th - June 14th will receive a pizza party and the title of Bishop Woods Attendance Challenge winners!

Students will receive a surprise treat and one family will receive a $50 gift card!

STRIVE is our schoolwide climate and culture program. Ask your child about STRIVE and what it means! We have monthly activities with our buddies, learning tasks aligned to the theme, and daily announcements reminding us how to STRIVE every day!

Bishop Woods has a school based health clinic operated by the Fair Haven Community Health Care. It is located in the nurses' suite on the first floor of our school. The clinic can provide back to school physicals as well as acute care to those students who are enrolled. While the clinic does not replace your primary care provider, it is a convenient way for both students and parents to access care without delay, leading to less missed time from work and school.
