Arizona Tax Credit Donations - WE NEED YOUR HELP!
It’s not too late to donate for 2023! Keep your tax dollars local with Arizona's dollar-for-dollar school tax credit, which goes directly to the schools and eligible programs you choose. A.R.S. 43-1089 allows a tax credit of $200 for individuals and $400 for married couples filing jointly, to be made to a public school in support of extracurricular activities. In the past, tax credits have covered the cost of character education, after school activities, gifted education, music, art, and sports programs as well as supplemental field trips. H.B. 2707 - OBSERVE MOMENT OF SILENCE
H.B. 2707 - Observe Moment of Silence
Enacted on September 24, 2022, H.B. 2707 requires all public and charter schools to provide students the opportunity to participate in a moment of silence at the beginning of each school day. This one, but not more than two minutes can be used for contemplation or reflection in a manner determined by the student and their parents.
Please discuss with your child on how you would like them to observe this moment of silence. Teachers will prompt students to stay quiet for the time and think and reflect on "good things" or on what parents have discussed with them. Click here for Q&A on the law.
Tardy Policy - Please Talk with Students about the Policy!
Tardies to class – At Mile High, the beginning of every class is a very important time and it is essential for students to be on time. Teachers use this time to greet students, share “Good Things,” and review the day’s agenda and objectives. If a student is tardy (without a pass from a staff member), the following consequences will be applied in an effort to prevent future tardies.
Administration runs a tardy report multiple times a week.
Students with 3 unexcused tardies to any class within the week receive a warning notification.
Students with 4 unexcused tardies will receive one lunch detention
Students with 5 unexcused tardies will receive two lunch detentions
Students with 6 unexcused tardies will receive three lunch detentions
Students with 7 unexcused tardies will receive one day of ISS
Students with 8 unexcused tardies will receive two days of ISS
Students with 9 or more tardies will receive disciplinary action for Defiance of Authority and truancy
Mile High Health Update for Week of 12/11/23
What is being seen in the health office: stomachaches, diarrhea, sore throat, and headache. We work closely with YRMC Partners for Healthy Students, and they are continuing to see an increase of Strep, Flu and earaches. Please follow-up with your child’s doctor if symptoms persist and don't get better. Your child may return to school when all signs/symptoms have subsided/resolved without the use of medication, or when their physician provides a written statement indicating your child is ready to return to school.
Stay home if:
1. Fever is 100.4 or higher. (May return to school when your child is fever-free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications.)
2. Vomiting. (May return to school when your child has not vomited for 24 hours.)
3. Sore throat pain with difficulty swallowing; red and swollen tonsils, sometimes with white patches or streaks of pus and tiny red spots on the back of the roof of the mouth.
4. Swollen, itchy eyes with thick discharge, crusty or redness to the whites of the eye.
5. Rash that’s unrelated to a chronic skin condition.
6. Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing.
7. Excessive mucus from the nose (runny nose) or sneezing unrelated to environmental allergies.
8. Persistent non-productive/productive cough. (May return to school when the cough is under control.)
School Policy ~ We've got a few changes :)
As we embark on this next school year, we have made some minor changes to our dress code and cell phone policies. These policies are in place for every student's safety and in the spirit of protecting every minute of instruction and learning as possible. As always, if you have any questions, please call our office. These policies will be given to all families at schedule pick up and will be posted in this year's handbook.
Dress Code Policy for Mile High Middle School
Prescott Unified School District encourages students to take pride in their attire as it relates to the school setting. A spirit of support and cooperation between parents and school personnel is needed to ensure that students come to school appropriately dressed in attire that does not pose health or safety hazards and is appropriate to the school environment. Students should dress in a manner that takes into consideration the educational environment, safety, health, and welfare of themselves and others.

PUSD Cell Phone Policy for Grades 7 and 8
PUSD Cell Phone Policy
Why do we have rules around cell phones?
Cell phones are valuable and important communication devices in today’s world. Prescott Unified School District schools are committed to an academic environment where students are engaged in their learning, actively participating, and building academic endurance. However, use of cell phones during the instructional day severely impedes and distracts from the learning process.
For more information:
Cell Phones / Electronic Devices
For safety and communication purposes, cell phones MAY be brought on campus and to school activities and events. All electronic devices, including cell phones, ipods, earbuds/headphones, ect. must be put away upon entering campus and remain out of sight throughout the school day, activities, and events. Electronic devices are NOT permitted during passing periods or at lunch. Electronic devices will be left in the classroom when students are using a pass to leave class.
If electronic devices are found in violation of this policy, the item will be confiscated by a staff member and students will have to have parent signatures and follow the policy on the confiscated item document to have the item returned.
1st offense - Student may pick up confiscated item in the office at the end of the day. Student was informed of and understood the 2nd offense.
2nd offense - Student may pick up confiscated item in the office the next day if this form is signed by a parent/guardian and turned in.
3rd offense - Student's parent/guardian must claim confiscated item in office. (Parent/Guardian may claim the item in the office between 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.)
4th offense - Disciplinary action will be taken for Defiance of Authority; Cell Phone Contract will be enacted.
Cell phones are only allowed for use after the final dismissal bell has rung and the student is not participating in afterschool programs.
If students need to be contacted during school hours, please go through the school office. A phone is also available in the front office for students to use to communicate with parents. The school is not responsible for lost, damaged or stolen cell phones and electronic devices.
