Dear CAP Parents/Guardians of Students in Grades 3 through 8,
The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania requires all school districts to administer the Pennsylvania System of School Assessment (PSSA) in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science. The PSSA assessments are based on the Pennsylvania Core Standards. Parents can reassure children that these assessments give them an opportunity to demonstrate their learning.
Please discuss the importance of these assessments with your child and encourage them to do their best. It is very important that students be present and on time during testing days. Below are some tips for success:
● Get a good night’s rest prior to test days.
● Be present and on time.
● Have a good breakfast. Breakfast is free to all CAP students and available daily.
● There will only be one testing session on each date, so encourage children to take their time, review responses, and give their best effort.
● Students need to bring a book to read if they finish an exam prior to the end of the test session to read silently.
● Highlighters, pencils, and scratch paper will be provided.
● No additional electronic devices are permitted in the testing room!

English Language Arts April 23 - 25, 2025 All students in Grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8
Math April 29 & 30, 2025 All students in Grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 S
Science 1 & 2, 2025 Students in Grades 5 (NEW) and 8 Only
