Did You Know?
An Explanation of Absences: Excused - absences are excused if parents/guardians communicate with the school office through a phone call, email or the absence request process in IC Exempt - if a doctor's note is turned in following an appointment with your student's name and date/time of the appointment, the absence will be medically excused and not count against the attendance record. There is never a requirement by us to take your child to the doctor/dentist/ortho/therapist, but if you do, we can exempt the absence. This simply means the absences don't count against attendance. If you have prior appointments, please email Jennifer.Macakanja@nbexcellence.org or bring in a doctor's note and the absence(s) can be changed to exempt. Field trips, funerals and occasionally the weather are automatically counted as exempt.
Unexcused - a student will be marked unexcused if the school office doesn't hear anything from a parent/guardian
Report Cards & Progress Reports
Your student’s Quarter 1 report card will be accessible in Infinite Campus on Monday, 11/11/24 at 4:00PM. Please note that not all subject, disposition, or skill areas will have a grade or a score, as this report card serves as progress towards a final semester grade or score. This is especially true for Art, Music and Physical Education, where grades and comments are not completely entered until the end of the semester. At the end of Semester 1, all subject, disposition, and skill areas will have a grade or a score.

Parent Reference Guide for Achievement Based Grading
In addition, IEP progress reports will be e-mailed to applicable families by 4:00PM on Monday, 11/11, as well.
Sharing Gratitude With RR Staff
Now that it is November, we are all reflecting on what we are grateful for. We would love to hear from our valued families and greater educational community about what and who you are grateful for at Ronald Reagan Elementary School.
Please take a brief moment to express your gratitude for our amazing staff. You may use the gratitude form linked below. Your words of appreciation make a great impact on our school culture and climate. Our hope is to have at least one note of gratitude for all staff members. You may complete this form multiple times. We will compile all the responses and share them with staff on November 26th before they leave for break. We will close the survey on Friday, November 22nd at 4:00PM to allow us time to organize all of your kind words.
Thank you for helping us shower our amazing staff with kindness!

Dear Reagan Families,
Once again, in honor of our Veterans and Troops currently serving, and in conjunction with our Reagan Gives Back efforts, we have some activities we will do as a building to honor Veterans Day.
1. Honor Flight Fundraiser: The cost to send one Veteran on an Honor Flight is $525. Over the past 5 years, Ronald Reagan has sent 41 veterans on an Honor Flight. That is an amazing accomplishment and we couldn’t do it without your help! Students should return the fundraising form along with their donation and give it to their teacher. Make checks payable to: Stars and Stripes Honor Flight. A link to the form is attached below for your reference.
2. Honor Wall: Students can bring photos of Veterans they know, along with a form they fill out to go with their photo. Please paperclip the form to each photo and return it to your classroom teacher. Please send copies of your photos and not originals as photos will not be returned. Attached below is the referenced form.
3. Write letters to a Veteran. Students can write letters to a Veteran that will be attending an Honor Flight for their "Mail Call" on their return flight. Letters will be written to thank them for their service, and addressed as "Dear Veteran". If we collect enough letters, some will be taken to the VA hospital as well.
4. Monday, November 11th will be Patriotic/Red, White, and Blue Day.
5. On Monday, November 11th, each class will go outside in front of our school to place flags in the lawn. Each student will receive a flag to place in the ground.
6. In addition to placing flags outside all classes will be invited to view the live stream of the district-wide Veterans Day program.
Thanks for your support and help as we honor our past and present veterans and military members for all they have done to ensure our freedoms!
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact stephanie.fergerson@nbexcellence.org

Hello Reagan Families!
Coming soon is the start of our World Kindness Week! Students will have a different kindness challenge as well as a kindness themed spirit day to try to complete each day. Students do not need to track anything on their calendars but we greatly appreciate your support and encouragement for all to participate however they can to help spread extra kindness.
To help spread kindness into our surrounding community, Student Council has organized 2 ways to give back! The first is to donate non-perishable food items to the New Berlin Food Pantry and the second is to send in wishlist items for all the animal friends at HAWS. Collection for the donated items starts on Monday, November 11th and goes for the whole week. Students and families are encouraged to send in donations for one or both of the non-profit organizations. If your family participates, Food donations will be collected in each grade level pod and animal donations can be dropped off on the labeled tables in the Commons at Reagan in the morning during parent and bus drop-off before classes start. Student Council members will be there to help organize items, box them up, and store them until Friday, November 15th when the donation period ends. All students should be bringing home a Kindness Weeks calendar and donation information from school. Or you can click the following link to view electronically.
