A Message To Families From Mr. Peck
Riverview Families,
We are so excited to welcome our students back to Riverview next week! Remember that the first day of school is Tuesday, September 3. Here are a few things to know to ensure the first day is a successful day for your child:
1. Make sure your child gets to bed early so they can come to school rested and ready to learn. It is a good idea to start setting an earlier bedtime this week so it is easier to do it once school starts next week.
2. Make sure your child knows if they should eat breakfast at school when they arrive or if they should go directly to their classroom. If they are eating breakfast, they will go directly to the cafetorium rather than to their classroom first. Except for kindergarten. Kindergarten students will go directly to their classroom each day and eat in their classroom. Having them know the plan will help with eliminating any confusion during the "arrival rush". There will be a lot of teachers, staff, and volunteers helping with this process as well.
3. If you have one, make sure your child has a water bottle to keep at school to help them stay hydrated. Remember, there are no carbonated/sweetened drinks allowed at school. It's ok if they don't have a water bottle, but we want our students to stay in the classroom as much as possible. Taking a trip to the water fountain can potentially lead to missed learning.
4. If your child's teacher is allowing snack time, please send your child with a healthy snack. Please do not send candy, pop, juice, etc., for snack.
5. Have your child leave their cell phone at home if possible. If you feel the need to have them bring a phone to school, remind them that it must be turned off and left in their locker from arrival to dismissal at the end of the day. Any phones that are out during the school day will be brought to the main office.
6. If you are dropping off in the morning, please keep these procedures in mind to ensure a safe and efficient process:
- Make sure your child has all of their belongings accounted for prior to dropping off.
- Give your child any words of encouragement and love prior to dropping off.
- Pull as far forward as possible if there is room to do so. The supervising staff will direct you.
- Stay in your car and pull forward immediately after your child exits the car.
- Have your child exit the vehicle on the passenger side.
I truly believe that your child is going to have an amazing school year. We have done a lot of work as a staff to ensure every learner feels safe, welcome, and confident. It's going to be a great year of learning and growing!
Shawn Peck
Principal

New Staff Profile; Welcome to New 4th Grade Teacher, Ms. Sadie Sonnenburg!
My name is Mrs. Sonnenburg and I am so excited to join the Riverview team! I am from Apple Valley, MN and I got my degree in Childhood Education at the University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire.
After graduating, my husband and I moved to Grafton, WI. There I taught two long term sub positions in 5K and third grade, and then fourth grade for four years. I love fourth grade because of all the exciting new things we learn, as well as the growing independence of the students as they take charge of their own learning. Riverview is focused on helping students reach their full potential, and I feel so lucky to be a part of this community!
This past summer my husband and I moved back to MN to be closer to family. We also stayed busy with our dogs, Maggie and Ruby. Some of my favorite activities include reading, hiking, drinking coffee, and trying new art projects.

A Message To All RVES Families From PTP President, Tamara Barum
Hello PTP,
I’m Tamara Barum, the PTP President for the 2024-2025 school year.
I want to extend a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has shown interest in joining our amazing team! This email will provide you with an overview of who we are, what we do, and what you can look forward to next.
WHO WE ARE - We are the Parent Teacher Partnership (PTP), dedicated to supporting Riverview Elementary’s students and staff throughout the school year. Our mission is to raise funds and allocate them according to teachers’ requests to ensure all students have what they need for a successful year. We also organize fun events, foster community spirit, and strive to make a positive impact within the school.
Our team includes an elected board and a network of ‘members at large’ who contribute to discussions and provide support. We form various committees, such as Book Fair, Conference Meals, PIE, and more, and we are always in need of enthusiastic volunteers!
The elected board, which will be introduced at our meetings and highlighted on social media, includes:
* President
* Vice Presidents
* Treasurer
* Secretary
* Book Fair Chair
* Tiger Pantry Chair
* Spiritwear Coordinator
* Webmaster
* PIE Coordinator
WHAT WE DO - Our main goals are to raise money and have fun while doing so! We collaborate with teachers to determine the best use of funds, which can support field trips, bussing, classroom materials, and learning space organization, special guests and more. Our monthly meetings allow us to assess school needs and identify ways to offer support, including planning meals and events such as conferences, book fairs, and teacher appreciation activities. We also organize community-building events like Family Fun Night, Movie Night, dining outings, and bowling.
COMMUNICATION - We primarily communicate via email. Additionally, we have an unofficial Facebook Page: Riverview Elementary School Parents<https://www.facebook.com/share/g/vdUyQEyGhNrqDgyg/> and a website: rvesptp.org<http://rvesptp.org>, which we update regularly with important dates and details.
WHAT’S NEXT
* First Official Meeting: Tuesday, September 10 at 5:30 PM in the Multipurpose Room at RVES
* Family Fun Night: Thursday, September 26
Please keep an eye out for future emails and sign-ups to get involved. If you have any questions or need more information, don’t hesitate to reach out. We look forward to seeing you soon and working together to make this a fantastic year for Riverview Elementary!
Best regards,
Tamara Barum

School Pictures To Be Taken During Assessments/Meet & Greets

24-25 iPad Loan Agreement and iPad Protection Plan Enrollment Is Now Open
The 24-25 iPad Loan Agreement as well as enrollment in the iPad Protection Plan for the 2024-25 school year are both now open. Click here to get the process started. This agreement will need to be in place prior to a school-issued iPad going home with your child. It will speed up the process to have everything completed prior to coming in for assessments/meet & greets. You can also stop by the RVES media center on those days to complete the agreement. However, that might mean that your child won't get their iPad until the start of the school year, however.
If you have not used RevTrak yet, you will need to create an account and also know your child’s Student ID number to complete the registration process. If you used RevTrak for completing last year’s 2023-24 iPad Loan Agreement, the system has saved your parent and child account information. You will still need to know your learner’s Student ID number.
FHS Football Game Expectations
We are very excited to welcome the community to Tiger Stadium for fall football games! We understand that football games are a social event and expect all in attendance to follow these guidelines.
It is an expectation that middle school and elementary school students have a parent or guardian at the game and remain supervised throughout the night.
Please remember to be a positive fan; cheer for the Farmington Tigers and refrain from using negative or obscene language, gestures, or interactions with fans/players from the opposing team. It is all of our responsibility to ensure our venues are safe. If someone around you is not acting appropriately, please discourage them from continuing or involve a member of our ISD 192 staff.
Also, please take note of our general Tiger Stadium procedures:

Fans should not travel between the home and visiting side of the stadium
No outside food or beverage is allowed (Including reusable water bottles)

New District Cell Phone/Electronic Device Policy Takes Effect
In order to maintain focus on the educational process, we require that cell phones stay inside your child’s backpack and be turned off/ silenced throughout the duration of the school day. We understand that families may need to communicate with their child throughout the day, however, families need to communicate through the main office to deliver important messages. Students wearing watches should not be using the watch to make calls or send/receive messages during the school day. If the phone or watch is causing a distraction to learning, the phone/watch will be placed in the office for the remainder of the day and the student may pick it up at dismissal time. If it continues to be a concern, the phone/watch will be placed in the office and a parent will need to come pick it up.
School district will not be responsible for any lost or stolen personal items.
Please Consider Joining Our Team as a Substitute Teacher or Paraprofessional
If you would like to sign up to sub as a teacher or paraprofessional for the Farmington Schools you will have to apply through Teachers on Call (TOC).
