Dear Highland Families:
It is with great excitement that I write this communication of introduction to you as the new Principal of Highland Elementary School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such persevering students, an extremely dedicated staff, and a supportive school community. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this school and to support the students and families of such an amazing community.
As the principal of Highland Elementary, I would like to welcome you to our school, home of the Highland Hounds. The staff at Highland is committed to setting high academic expectations for our students while providing a nurturing environment that encourages curiosity and a love for learning. High expectations help to instill confidence and a work ethic that will follow our students into life.
A strong partnership with parents is a crucial piece of helping to prepare students for their future. Parent involvement is critical and welcomed here at Highland. I am particularly looking forward to meeting and working with each of you. By using the simple idea of teamwork, the students, parents, and staff of Highland Elementary School will create an outstanding school year.
Best wishes for a successful and enjoyable year!
My Career
I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than fourteen years. Prior to becoming the principal at Highland, I worked with students from Kindergarten through 5th grade in a variety of roles. I have been a special education and regular education teacher, and a K-5 Resource teacher I have also been elected by my peers for various district and school based leadership roles. I served as an Assistant Principal at Ridge Circle within U-46 for grades K-6. I enjoyed beginning to learn about this incredible community as Co Principal last school year. I am thrilled to utilize my experience as an instructional leader at Highland Elementary School and work with you as a partner in education to ensure your child's success.
My Philosophy of Education
Together We Can
Forging strong connections with families and the community is key to building a bridge from home to school. I am excited to create a safe, healthy environment through positive engagement and interactions with students, families, and the community.
Hard Work
Hard work is doing your best to meet your personal goals! Students should feel empowered to embrace an innovator’s mindset, be REAL, and lead by doing!
Community of Belonging
I am dedicated to the community of Highland! My commitment is to prepare each student today to reach their full potential tomorrow. I will strive to provide a nurturing environment for limitless growth and individual well-being.
My Interests:
I view education as a life-long process and continue to learn every year from our students, teachers, and parents. I consider myself to be a life-long learner. I love to read, dance, sports, nurture my vegetable garden in the summer and hang out in the snow during the winter months! I inherently believe that every child matters.
