Superintendent Community Update
Superintendent's Message
Dear JUHSD Community,
I hope you’re finding ways to stay cool during this hot week!
I’m excited to share that at Tuesday's Board of Trustees meeting, we officially welcomed 23 outstanding students as members of the 2024-2025 Student Advisory Council. This committed group of Student Trustees play a vital role in our educational community. They meet biweekly to discuss important issues, provide insights on board agenda topics, and advocate for their peers.
I’m honored to work alongside these bright, engaged student leaders. Their enthusiasm and commitment greatly enhance our educational initiatives and create a vibrant learning environment for all.
Please remember that my door is always open. Have a great weekend!
Warm regards,
Toni Presta

Honored and Acknowledged in October
Throughout the month of October, many groups and causes are acknowledged, including:
JUHSD Leadership Students (Jefferson ASB, Oceana ASB, Terra Nova ASB, and Westmoor ASB) participated in Leadership Development Day which utilize experiential learning activities to unite students and develop lifelong skills. The curriculum is centered around learning effective communication, cultural competencies, connecting to others, individualism vs. collectivism, expanding the leadership base, perseverance, and courage to become the best version of yourself.
The day is led by a CADA (California Association of Directors of Activities) facilitator with more than 10,000 hours in leadership training experience, Leadership Development Days provide opportunities for ASB students to become inspired and contribute to the betterment of their campus and communities.
On Saturday, September 28th, the JHS Mission Fusion performed at the San Mateo County Office of Arts and Culture and the San Mateo Area Chamber of Commerce were pleased to present the September Arts & Culture Fest – the best street festival on the Peninsula. The day-long event featured San Mateo County musicians, entertainment and cultural performances, artists and craft-makers, cuisine from around the world, and family-friendly activities in the heart of downtown San Mateo.
Our schools were out in full force at Fog Fest 2024, showcasing our amazing school community. Jefferson High School, Terra Nova High School, and Oceana High School participated in an electrifying Fog Fest parade, showcasing their vibrant spirit and creativity! Each school dazzled the crowd with spirited performances, and enthusiastic cheers.
A big shoutout to Superintendent Presta and all the JUHSD Administrators, JUHSD Board Members, and all the students who volunteered at the JUHSD community booth.
