FHS Team Qualifies for World Championship
On Saturday and Sunday February 22-23, Framingham hosted the Massachusetts VEX Robotics High School State Championship. Sixty-five of the best teams in the state attended, including four FHS teams: 9421A “All In”, 9421H “Hot Sauce”, 9421M “MechaMinds” and 9421W “Wicked Smaht”.
After 163 qualifying matches, all four FHS teams made it to the elimination rounds but All In, Hot Sauce and MechaMinds were knocked out in the round of 16. Wicked Smaht was soon knocked out in the quarter finals.
At the end of the event, 9421H was awarded the Innovate Award (for the 4th time) which qualified them for the VEX Robotics World Championship, which will be held in Dallas May 5-8. The Innovate Award recognizes an effective and well documented design process for a novel aspect of the team’s robot design or gameplay strategy. This will be the 7th time FHS has attended the World championship in the last 11 years and the second time 9421H has attended.
"In all, this was the best season ever for FHS robotics. We ended the regular season with 11 judged awards and 6 performance awards, with 9421H tying the school record for 9 trophies in one season."
