Week of November 4th

Last week was filled with creative and engaging activities! Ms. Ricciardi invited three Sanborn families into Art class, where they joined students in designing clay Diyas for Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights. This project brought together our community in a beautiful celebration of culture and creativity. Be sure to check out the pictures below!
Fourth graders started the "Mind Your Bu$iness" Program on Friday and will have 3 more sessions! They are working in a team that forms a company where students learn and practice all aspects of creating a product and bringing it to market!
This enrichment is brought to you by the Sanborn PTO and your Fun Run Dollars!!
Looking ahead, please remember that there will be no classes on Tuesday, November 5, as we hold conferences. It’s a great chance to connect about your child’s progress!
Please check our lost and found when you come in for a conference. It is overflowing!
On Wednesday, November 8, we’ll hold our monthly Cultural Climate Committee (C-3) meeting at 8:15 a.m. in the office near the front entrance. All are welcome, and we would love to see more faces there as we discuss ways to support and enhance our school community.
Lastly, on Friday, November 10, we invite our Multilingual Learner families to a coffee gathering at 1:30 p.m. Ms. Xavier and Ms. Bakanosky have sent out invitations, and we look forward to connecting with you there.
We received 155 playground surveys!!! That is a wonderful response. The design company will come up with some draft playground designs that we will share out for families and staff to provide feedback on.
Enjoy your Sunday!
Lunch Updates
We have noticed an increase in food waste at lunches. Please help us reduce the waste by doing the following:
◦ Remember that if you would like your child to have a school lunch it needs to be ordered in advance. If not, their name will not be on a list. This impacts how much the kitchen prepares each day.
◦ If you would like your child to have a school lunch, work with them when you do the ordering. If your child is a picky eater, remind them of what they will be served that day. (Students may not change their order when they get to the café if they see something else that they prefer).
◦ If you prefer to have your child eat food from home, be sure your child knows that they may not choose to eat the school lunch when they arrive at the café.
◦ Please do not order a lunch and send in a back up lunch. Many children are getting the school lunches, and then throwing it away because they decide to have something else from home. We understand that if this is their first time having a school lunch this may have been a nice option to start the year, however at this point we encourage families to stick with either a school lunch or a home lunch each day.
Reminder from the Art Room
Don’t forget to order cool gifts for that special family member or hard-to-buy-for person. With over 40 unique and useful keepsakes ready to purchase during the Square 1 Art fundraiser, your child's artwork is the perfect gift for any occasion or celebration. Nothing says “you’re loved” like “I made this art keepsake just for you!”
It’s the final days of the fundraiser, so don’t delay. The school benefits with every order!
Thank you for supporting the arts!
