Superintendent's Message
Dear Midview Families and Community,
As we pass the halfway point of the 2024-2025 school year, I want to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to our staff, administration, teachers, families, and community. Together, we’ve worked tirelessly to ensure that each of our students has the opportunity to reach their full potential. The positive momentum we’ve built as a district is truly remarkable, and it’s a direct result of everyone’s contributions.
Building on this momentum, I’m excited to announce that we’ve officially launched our strategic planning process. Our leadership team and Board of Education have long recognized the importance of having a clear, comprehensive, and actionable set of goals and objectives to guide our decisions and resource allocation. This strategic plan will serve as a roadmap for the next five years, outlining our priorities in key areas such as academic achievement, facilities, communication, operations, climate and culture, and finances.
What makes this process truly special is that it will be shaped by you – our community, students, staff, leadership, families, and our board. We are committed to creating a plan that reflects the values and aspirations of the entire Midview family.
Below, you’ll find more on how you can participate in the online community survey and/or focus groups. Both will provide a confidential space for you to share your thoughts and ideas, which will be used by our Board of Education and administration to set clear goals and objectives for our district.
Please consider taking part and sharing your feedback. Above all, I encourage you to dream big as we work together to create a future of limitless possibilities for Midview. Thank you, as always, for your continued support and dedication to our students.
Warm regards,
Dr. Frank Major, Superintendent

Midview High School Showcase & CCP Parent Information Night
Midview High School will host its annual Showcase on February 6 from 4:30-6:30 pm to "showcase" the many opportunities available to our students! Families and students of all ages are invited to explore our class offerings, Advanced Placement (AP) courses, career-tech education pathways, and extracurricular activities!
Parents of students in 6th-11th grade interested in College Credit Plus (CCP) information are invited to attend the CCP Parent Information Session at 6 pm in the APR. CCP is a great opportunity for students to get a head start on their college education by earning college and high school credits simultaneously. This session will cover the program details, participation process, available courses, and the application steps.
Please note: If your student is new to CCP, both the student and their guardian(s) must attend the meeting. Students who have already participated in CCP or attended a previous meeting do not need to attend again. [Link to CCP Parent Letter]

Name a Street on the Midview Local Schools Campus!
The Midview Compass Committee, comprised of parents, community members, and school personnel, works together to provide a variety of opportunities for our students. This year, to support their fundraising efforts, they are raffling off the naming rights for “Middie Main Street,” the street that runs in front of the Midview Middle School. Tickets will be available for purchase now through February 15, and the winner will be announced at the Varsity Boys Basketball game against North Olmsted on February 15 (you do not need not to be present to win).
Each ticket will grant the purchaser one entry into the raffle for the naming rights, which will be valid for one full year. After the winner selects a street name and it is approved for us, it will be displayed on a large 35”x 9” sign at the intersection on campus for all to see. Tickets are $5 for a single entry, or $20 for 5 entries. Purchase tickets here.
Middies in Action
Few things are better than coming back to "hot chocolate” and marshmallows after experiencing sub-zero temperatures outside!
Miss Mullenax’s kindergarten students had a blast learning how to add two numbers together, up to 10. With a variety of strategies already in their math toolboxes—like ten frames, number lines, drawings, linking cubes, and counters—students confidently tackled the challenge! Each child crafted their own "mug" of hot chocolate by combining two groups of marshmallows and counting the total. Once they finished, the class celebrated with a few extra mini-marshmallows!
Over the past two months, Mrs. Cruz’s first grade class completed an arctic animal writing unit. Students researched caribou, polar bears, and penguins, learning about their diet, habitat, characteristics, and other interesting facts. After learning about the animals, the class worked on their writing skills by completing an informative writing piece about each animal. To wrap up the unit, students participated in a hands-on science experiment that demonstrated how animal blubber helps keep these creatures warm in their cold habitats!
Before Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Mrs. Eppich's third graders explored his life and legacy. Students researched and discussed his significant contributions to civil rights, with a particular focus on his famous "I Have a Dream" speech.
Students wrote their own "I Have a Dream" speeches, sharing their visions for a better world! This project not only expanded our students' historical knowledge but also encouraged them to think critically about important social issues. We are proud to see our learners developing into thoughtful, empathetic citizens!
In celebration of our kindergarten students mastering their ABCs, North Elementary held its annual Alphabet Parade last week! Students in each class were assigned a letter of the alphabet, and with the help of their families, decorated a vest with images that begin with their letter. Our kindergarteners had so much fun during the parade and enjoyed the cheers of encouragement and support from their first and second grade peers!
The Middle School ended its first semester with a Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) celebration for all students. Seventh and eighth graders had the chance to redeem their PBIS points for a variety of fun activities happening throughout the building. Students had a lot of fun and it was a great culmination of the first half of the school year!
At East, students used their knowledge of writing inequalities to represent real-world situations. Working in groups, they walked around the classroom, examining different signs and discussing how to write an inequality that reflected the given scenarios. Some groups came up with different answers based on how they interpreted the signs, leading to an interesting class discussion about the various correct solutions. Lastly, students graphed the inequalities on a number line to show all of the possible solutions.
A few of our National Honor Society members collaborated with Ms. Dembiec, MHS Biomedical Sciences teacher, to spend a Saturday morning sorting through surplus medical supplies at MedWish, a nonprofit organization that repurposes medical equipment for those in need. It was awesome to see the students apply the knowledge they learned in Biomed class to identify and ask questions about the supplies they were sorting!
