Paving The WAY for Workforce Success in Dublin-Laurens County
Welcome to the 1st Edition of our Weekly CTAE/Career Academy Update!
I鈥檓 excited to introduce this new weekly newsletter as a way to keep parents, community members, and stakeholders connected with the important work happening within our Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education (CTAE) programs here at Dublin City Schools.
Our students are taking bold steps to prepare for future careers, and this newsletter will serve as a bridge to share their achievements, opportunities, and the exciting developments happening across our career academy, The Way (Workforce Accelerating Youth).
Through this platform, I hope to provide regular updates on how we are equipping our students with real-world skills, fostering partnerships with local industries, and creating pathways for their success. Whether it鈥檚 news on upcoming events, student spotlights, or ways to get involved, I鈥檓 committed to keeping you informed as we work together to strengthen the future of our workforce and community.
Thank you for being part of our journey, and I look forward to sharing our stories with you each week!
Sincerely,
Ben Lanier

What is a Career Academy Anyway? The Question I Get Most!
A career academy is a partnership that brings together local schools, technical colleges, and business leaders to ensure students are prepared for the workforce needs of their community. In our case, Dublin City Schools, along with post-secondary institutions and our business community, work collaboratively to provide students with career-focused education that equips them with real-world skills.
Our College & Career Academy is part of Georgia鈥檚 Charter System, and we鈥檙e proud to be aligned with both the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE). These partnerships provide unique opportunities for students, including statewide agreements that allow them to earn college credits for certain CTAE courses鈥攇iving them a head start on their future careers.
At Dublin City Schools, we鈥檙e committed to ensuring our students are career-ready, with pathways that meet the specific needs of our local workforce. We鈥檙e excited to continue building on these efforts with the help of our community!

Workforce Wednesday enters Year 2!
Last year, Dublin City Schools CTAE Department and College and Career Academy launched our major PR initiatve entitled Workforce Wednesday. Every Wednesday, our social media channels highlight our various students, programs, and pathways within the career education arm of our system. If you are on Facebook, please share our videos so that more people are aware of our innovative public education approach to workforce readiness!

Future Business Leaders of America Students Attend First Friday Means Business
Members of the Dublin High School Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and students from the Business Communication course had the privilege of attending the Dublin-Laurens County Chamber of Commerce's First Friday Breakfast. This event provided an invaluable opportunity for students to engage with community professionals who generously shared their insights and experiences. Additionally, students were honored to hear from the newly elected District Attorney, Judge Harold McLendon, who offered inspiring words during the breakfast.
Sergeant Phillip Baham Selected as Dublin High School Teacher of the Year
We are overjoyed to share that one of our very own teachers, Sgt. Baham, was selected as Dublin High School's Teacher of the Year for the 2024-2025 school year. Baham will go on to compete for Dublin City Schools teacher of the year against all schools in our system. Sgt. Baham has developed our Air Force JRTOC into a thriving lifeline for our students. There isn't a soul more deserving, and we are privileged to have him part of our family!
