September 1st
Vision and Hearing Test
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Vision and hearing screening will start during the week of September 18. Hearing will be performed on all students in kindergarten, first, second, and third grades. Vision will be performed on all students in second grade. Vision and hearing will also be performed annually on all
children in special education, children new to the district, and teacher/parent referrals. If your student wears glasses please make sure the glasses are being brought to school. Please remember vision screening is not a substitute for a complete eye and vision evaluation by an eye doctor. Please contact Charity Richardson, the school nurse, if you have any questions or would like further information regarding vision/hearing screenings.Mrs. Richardson
3rd Grade Parents
Dear Parents,
We hope this message finds you well.
iPad Charger and Cable Return
During our recent iPad swap for 3rd-grade students, we noticed that some chargers and charging cables were not returned. As these items are essential components of our iPad program, we kindly ask that your child return the missing charger and/or charging cable to their teacher as soon as possible.
- Missing Item Fee: The cost for a missing charger or charging cable is $19 each. If you are unable to locate these items, the associated fee will be applied to your account.
- Please have your child return the charger and/or charging cable to their teacher asap.
If you have already returned these items, please disregard this message.
We appreciate your prompt attention to this. Please reach out if you have any questions.

Prospect K-5 Curriculum Night: Thursday, September 5, 2024
Please join us on Thursday, September 5th for Prospect’s K-5th grade Curriculum Night from 6:00-8:00 pm. Main entrance doors will open at 5:45 pm. You’ll have the opportunity to meet your child’s teacher and learn more about our district-wide curriculum updates, your child’s classroom daily routines, and classroom expectations. Because of the design of the program and space limitations, we respectfully ask that the evening be reserved for parents only.
Our grade levels will have staggered presentation times to give you the opportunity to hear multiple teacher presentations (as best as possible) if you have more than one child in grades K-5. Classroom teachers will either present in their classrooms or as a team. Please see the schedule below for your specific grade level(s). Throughout the evening, please make sure to stop by the art room as our specials teachers (PE, music, art, library) will be present to showcase the learning focus for this year. In addition, our student support providers (resource teachers & related services) and all other specialists will also be available to connect with you. They will be located in the hallway by the main staircase.
From 6:00-6:25 pm, Principal Kristin Cummings will present important information about the 2024-2025 school year including her vision and theme for the year. She’ll share information about updated building safety measures and review universal student behavior expectations. We’ll meet in the gym and this session will start promptly at 6:00 pm. You won’t want to miss all this valuable information.
Thank you for entrusting us with your children. We look forward to a wonderful evening of connecting with one another!

How to order milk
Families will be able to pre-pay via Skyward for milk to be available for your child daily. NOTE: We will not collect cash/coins for milk purchases during lunches. This is a one-time fee at the beginning of the year, and families are encouraged to sign up through SchoolPay via Skyward by the deadline of September 2. If you miss this sign-up, you will need to send your child with their own drink.

Pre-Planned Absences
The school calendar has been established a year in advance and is available on the District website: www.d181.org. While we realize the value of family time, we strongly discourage the planning of vacations during regular student attendance days.
Elementary School Information Related to Planned Absences:
In the event of a planned absence, a parent must communicate directly with the school at least two days prior indicating their intentions. A parent/guardian may email, complete this form, or call the Office with the following information:
Name of student
reason for the absence, and
date(s) the student will be absent
If a planned absence consists of three (3) or more days, assignments and completion dates will be given after the absence as determined by the teacher. Teachers will not be required to re-teach material missed by students.
