Y5s Visit St. Clair Nature Center
Y5s Visit St. Clair Nature Center
Our Young Five's class enjoyed a beautiful day at St. Clair's Nature Center. They had many hands-on opportunities with the Center's indoor learning area, and they observed nature on their walk through the park. They saw swans, ducks, deer, turtles, and many different types of birds. What a wonderful learning experience for our little ones!
Mark Twain Wins Big for Going Green!
We’re excited to share that Mark Twain Elementary won two awards from Macomb County Public Schools for being the Best Green School! All of our hard work to take care of the environment really paid off. Ms. Danaj proudly accepted the awards on April 23rd. This year, we built birdhouses for local birds, held an Earth Day clean-up, focused on saving energy, and kept up our strong recycling efforts and even added recycling plastic bottles. Let’s keep up the awesome work and keep finding fun ways to stay green all year long!
Great work Mark Twain!
4th-Grade Market Day
Our Twain 4th-grade Market Day was such a HUGE success! Our 4th-grade students had the opportunity to learn about economics by choosing either a good and/or service to sell to our 3rd-grade classes for $1 each. Each 3rd grader was provided with $10 in play money.
Everyone was so impressed with how creative and awesome each of their goods and/or service items were! From selling stress balls and creative necklaces to football lessons and hair braiding services, our 4th graders were given the opportunity to develop skills such as product development and financial management.
We even received compliments from the 3rd grade students, teachers, Mr. Tonn, and FHS Career Teachers who visited and helped to create this fun day.
Our Twain 4th graders learned a lot about economics and what it takes to create and sell a product- all while having a ton of fun too! So many kids left with smiles, cool products, and lots of play money. 😊 💵😊 💵
FYC AND RMS SHOW CHOIR TOUR
Last Friday the Fraser Youth Choir & RMS Show Choir visited Twain. They performed for grades 3-6 and sounded GREAT! It was a pleasure to see some of our former Comets too.
Teacher & Staff Apprecaition Week
On behalf of the entire staff, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to each of you for the outpouring of kindness, thoughtful notes, and generous gifts during Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week. Your words of encouragement and gestures of appreciation truly mean the world to us.
It is a privilege to work with such a supportive community and to teach students who bring joy, curiosity, and energy to our classrooms every day. Thank you for making us feel so valued and celebrated — your thoughtfulness has reminded us just how lucky we are to be a part of this incredible school family.
Field Day is Coming
This year Twain's Field Day will take place on Wednesday, May 28th with a rain date scheduled for Thursday, May 29th. Only parents that volunteer in-advance (see below) and pass a background check will be able to attend the event. Also, be on the lookout for a text or email on the morning of the event should we have to cancel due to the weather.
A few reminders:
- Students should bring a refillable water bottle with their name on it.
- Students should wear comfortable clothing and shoes, sunglasses or a hat, and sunscreen.
- We are also encouraging students to bring extra shirt/clothes due to the water games.
Thanks,
Mr. Mette
Twain Parking Lot Reminders
- Please do not park in Handicap parking without a permit.
- The North lot is NOT a drop-off/ pick-up zone. It is for parking only. We MUST keep the loop open for busses and emergency vehicles. This rule applies to everyone, so please be cooperative and follow it.
The large, central lot has two lanes: a drop-off/ pick-up lane on the outside of the loop and a driving lane on the inside.
Please note: Drivers MAY NOT get out of your car while in the outside drop-off/ pick-up lane. Your students must exit to the outside of the loop, and drivers must not exit the car to walk students up or pick them up. If you have younger children who need to be walked up or picked up at the door, you MUST park your car in one of the lots or on the street.
Smoking and pets are not permitted on school grounds. Please leave your pets at home for the safety and comfort of all of our students and families.
Please do NOT swear on school grounds. We are trying to set a positive example for behavior for our Twain Comets, and shouting and swearing at other drivers does not set the right example for our kids. We ask our students to be respectful, organized, cooperative, kind, and safe, and we expect those behaviors to be modeled by our parents, too.
