Quarter 3 Stats
FTHS continues to make great academic strides 2nd semester. Eighty percent of our students earned a 3.0 or higher or improved their GPA by 0.5 points for the 3rd quarter. In addition, 38% of our students earned a 4.0 or higher. How do students earn a GPA higher than 4.0? They earn strong marks in honors, Advanced Placement, and dual enrollment courses. FTHS offers 17 honors and 14 Advanced Placement classes. See our school profile for more details.
Construction Trades Youth Apprenticeship Program
Is your child interested in the construction trades or do they want to learn more about the careers in this area? The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act has provided our communities with federal funding to help fill many positions in construction-related fields including EV expansion, airport and port careers and so much more. Funding has also provided apprenticeship opportunities for high school students. Students can apply here to participate.
24-25 Peer Mentors
Our Peer Mentors have been selected for the 24-25 school year. Peer Mentors have participated in numerous trainings so far to get ready for their role, including SAFETalk, which is designed to help students feel more confident identifying those who are considering suicide. Our Peer Mentors will be in the Wellness Center to assist students who may be experiencing a difficult time and they will also be coordinating events on campus to help promote mental health awareness.
Senior Handbook - Class of 2024 Families
Graduation is just around the corner on June 11th. For details on everything related to including deadlines and important end-of-the-year events, please review the Senior Handbook. š Students and families can us this handbook to answer all their FAQ's relating to their final days on campus.
Ventura College Summer and Fall Registration for High School Students (grades 9-11) - May 2nd
High school students can enroll in college classes for the summer or fall terms beginning Thursday, May 2nd. The FTHS Media Center will be open from 7:30-8:30 a.m. for students who would like help registering. Students must be cleared to register beforehand. Californiacolleges.edu
VUSD has partnered with California College Guidance Initiative (CCGI) which provides students and parents access to californiacolleges.edu, a platform to assist with post-high school planning. Students can track their college prep classes (A-G completion), take various assessments to narrow down career options, import their courses into their CSU and UC applications and so much more. Counselors will be visiting 10th and 11th-grade classes in May and June to help students explore this tool more however students can explore anytime by logging in with their VUSD Google account.

Career Technical Education (CTE) in VUSD
Between each of the high school campuses, VUSD overs 9 pathways that enable students to learn professional skills through project-based learning. These pathways include Broadcasting, Agriculture, Construction, Patient Care, Food Service, and more. Students can speak to their counselor for enrollment details and also apply to participate in a CTE course that is on another VUSD campus, if space allows.
