Computer Science and Beyond
“The most important skill for a computer scientist is problem-solving. Even if you don’t know all the details of the technology you are using, if you can solve the problem, you can figure out how to do it.”
– Bill Gates
Over the last two decades, the computational and technological development that is witnessed among students as well as professionals has made Computer Science, not only a subject but what we realize is -- it is far beyond that.
I take this opportunity to brief you about the domain of computer science and a wide spectrum of future opportunities, which one can choose as per their interest. Here are a few recent trends to watch for in the year 2024.
1. Cyber security – It is stated that 60% of organizations will use cybersecurity risk analysis as the primary determining factor when conducting transactions and business relationships with third parties. Investors, especially venture capitalists, use cybersecurity risk as an important factor in evaluating opportunities.
2. Gamification-Gamification adds game mechanics to non-game environments such as a website, online community, learning management system, or corporate intranet to increase participation. The goal of gamification is to engage consumers, employees, and partners and inspire them to collaborate, share, and interact by adding multi-player games, Score, Treasure Hunt, Challenges and Activities, etc. so as to increase the Stickiness factor in the web world.
3. Learning Analytics – The way, teachers read insights from students learning through text, infographics, and video processes, they can improve the knowledge and skill acquisition of their students accordingly. Also, teachers can notice what pieces of knowledge were not effectively delivered and enhance them next time. So is the use of Learning Analysis in every E-learning Platform. The current landscape of learning analytics has dramatically expanded, especially for higher education.
4. Bio-informatics - With the merger of big pharmaceutical companies with software companies, the demand for bioinformatics is growing and offers good job prospects for researchers and computer science graduates interested in biology, medical technology, pharmacy, and informatics. The exciting application of big data, bioinformatics, or the use of programming and software development to create large datasets of biological information for research purposes has enormous potential.
5. Blockchain Technology - Blockchain is a distributed database or record that is spread among the nodes of a computer network. Cryptocurrency systems are known for their important role in maintaining secure and decentralized transaction records, but they are not limited to using cryptocurrency. Blockchains can be used in any industry to make data immutable - a term meaning that it cannot be changed. Since there is no way to change the block, the only trust required is where the user or application enters the data. This aspect will reduce the need for trusted third parties, which are usually auditors or other people who add costs and make mistakes.
6. Geofencing –Geofences are defined by drawing a circle or virtual boundaries around the desired location using RFID or GPS or over satellite images of a specific geographic area using the application programming interface or API built into the application. The ring will trigger an alarm whenever an authorized device enters or leaves the area.
As a Computer Science student, you should always keep learning new skills and unlearning the obsolete ones because the technology is ever changing. Be ready to research and adapt with the following areas in the coming decades.
Stay updated, Stay relevant!

Creating Digital Mindmap Using HAND Approach for Essay Idea Generation (AS Level Grade 11 – English General Paper)
The primary goal of this classroom activity was to develop students' skills in generating ideas for essay writing, focusing on the five critical strands of Technology, Politics/Economy, Environment, Society, and Media while enhancing their awareness of global issues and their influence on communities.
Students worked in pairs, with access to digital mind-mapping tools, such as MindMeister or Coggle. They utilized the HAND Approach to brainstorm two claims for their chosen essay question, each claim supported by examples from all five strands. Partners engaged in a collaborative discussion to ensure their ideas were well-rounded and complemented each other. This encouraged critical thinking and the exchange of perspectives. To enhance the student-centric and creative aspect of the activity, students were encouraged to express their brainstormed ideas artistically.
Students presented their digital mind maps and artistic expressions to the class. This allowed for peer evaluation and constructive feedback.

CBSE 9
When the traditionally passive reading component is taken out of the classroom, the classroom has the potential to become a workshop that incorporates and focuses on active learning. Thus, the classroom becomes a central component rather than an adjunct.
Students should come to class prepared, which increases their responsibility in their daily lives and, specifically, for their learning. In a way, this also makes it easier for the student to direct his or her own learning.
The learners of Class 9 were prompted to share their understanding of the topics taught in the classroom. Each student chose a different topic and expressed his/her input through a flipped classroom.
The flipped classroom supports diversity in students' learning and allows them additional time to review materials. In addition, they can reflect and experiment through questions and discussions with their peers to solve problems.
Here are a few advantages of the flipped classroom -
1. Efficient use of class time
2. Pre-eminence of active learning
3. Increased interactions
4. Increased responsibility
5. Multiple learning styles
Aarush Bhandari, explaining his understanding through the summary of the story "THe Fun they had"
Aristh Kothari, explaining the poem "The legend of the Northland."
Aarav Mane, explainig the poetic devices of the poem "The legend of the Northland."
CBSE 12
The classroom activities for students are a fun way to subtly involve them in the learning process and also ensure active participation, confidence, trust-building, and learning new skills.
The learners of Class 12 were prompted to share their understanding of the poems taught in the classroom. Each group chose a different topic and expressed their input.
Name of the Activity- Class Discussion
Group size – 6-7
Time duration – 30 minutes
Description – Split the class into two to three groups with equal participants focused on a single topic. Each group has to share their ideas and thoughts on the same topic.
Benefits – In class discussions, there is interaction and collaboration among the students. Here students are learning from each other's inputs.

Visit To Furniture Factory by Students of Grade 1
As a part of our Transdisciplinary Theme How we organise we embarked on a trip to the furniture factory, where the students were provided with comprehensive insights into the intricate process of crafting and shipping wooden furniture. The factory adhered to government regulations regarding the sourcing of wood from trees.
The students witnessed each step of the manufacturing process, from cutting trees to creating wooden planks, assembling the pieces, applying finishes, painting, and finally, packaging the furniture for distribution. Every phase of this process left the students feeling more informed, excited, and eager to explore the subject further. The trip concluded with an abundance of newfound knowledge and a sense of shared laughter and enjoyment.
