Brrr! It was a cold one this week, but we loved being outside at the end of the week for recess! This is a friendly reminder that next Wednesday, January 22nd is a late start day.

We are looking forward to our APEX fundraiser beginning the week of January 27th! I encourage you to read this newsletter and FAQ sheet for more information.

Our Apex leadership program and fundraiser starts on

Tuesday January 27th!

Our students have had an exciting two weeks back and they have been doing a great job meeting the high expectations set for them since returning to school on January 6th. One area where we need your help is reminding students of bathroom expectations. Please remind your students to remain quiet in the hallways when going to the bathroom, quickly use the facilities, place all trash in the trash bin, and exhibit proper bathroom behavior. Attached is LITH's expectation poster for bathroom behavior.

This month, our K-2 students are competing against our 3-5 students to see who has the best attendance. As of this Friday, the K-2 attendance rate is at 93% and the 3-5 attendance rate is at 94.5%. The grade levels with the highest attendance rate at the end of January will win a special prize. Last month our second graders had hot cocoa delivered to their room as their prize for having the best attendance during the month of December. Remember, this upcoming Wednesday is a late start day. Although the day is shortened by two hours, there is still a lot of learning that takes place. Review this helpful handout to see what takes place on our late start days!

If your student becomes ill, please use the D300 Sick Day Guideines when deciding whether or not to send them to school https://www.d300.org/SickDayGuidelines

Remind your child of the importance of good handwashing especially after using the restroom and before eating. Hands should be washed with warm water and soap and rubbed together for at least 20 seconds.

Remind your child to cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or their arms and to avoid sharing personal items such as hats, gloves, utensils, straws, lip balms and water bottles.

If your child develops symptoms of vomiting or diarrhea, please keep them home for at least 24 hours after symptoms have stopped. If a fever is present, please keep them home until they are fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medication.

¡Nuestro programa de liderazgo y evento de recaudación de fondos de Apex comienza el martes, 28 de Enero!

Nuestros estudiantes tuvieron dos semanas emocionantes de regreso e hicieron un gran trabajo al cumplir con las altas expectativas establecidas para ellos desde que regresaron a la escuela el 6 de enero. Un área donde necesitamos su ayuda es recordando a los estudiantes de las expectativas del baño. Por favor, recuerde a sus estudiantes permanecer en silencio en los pasillos cuando van al baño, utilizar rápidamente las instalaciones, colocar toda la basura en el basurero, y mostrar un comportamiento adecuado en el baño. Adjunto encontrará el volante de expectativas de LITH para el comportamiento en el baño.

Este mes, nuestros estudiantes de K-2 grado están compitiendo contra nuestros estudiantes de 3-5 para ver quién tiene la mejor asistencia. A partir de este viernes, la tasa de asistencia de K-2 es de 93% y la tasa de asistencia de 3-5 es de 94.5%. Los niveles de grado con la tasa de asistencia más alta a finales de enero ganarán un premio especial. El mes pasado nuestros estudiantes de segundo grado recibieron un chocolate caliente en su salón como premio por tener la mejor asistencia durante el mes de diciembre. Recuerden, el próximo miércoles es un día de inicio tarde. Aunque el día se acorta dos horas, todavía hay mucho que aprender. Recuerde a su estudiante la importancia de lavarse bien las manos, especialmente después de ir al baño y antes de comer. Las manos deben lavarse con agua tibia y jabón y frotar durante al menos 20 segundos.

Recuerde a su estudiante que al toser y estornudar se cubra con un pañuelo o con el brazo y que evite compartir objetos personales como gorros, guantes, utensilios, bálsamos labiales y botellas de agua.

Si su estudiante presenta síntomas de vómitos o diarrea, debe permanecer en casa al menos 24 horas después de que paren los síntomas. Si tiene fiebre, manténgalo en casa hasta que no tenga fiebre durante al menos 24 horas sin usar medicamentos antifebriles.
