PSMS News: The Weekly Roar
February 3, 2023
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Just a reminder that next Wednesday, February 8th is a half day. On that day, we will host the Term 2 Honors Celebration in the PSMS Cafeteria. Families are invited to attend. Students who have received "Honors" or "High Honors" on their term 2 report card are invited to attend. Term 2 report cards were issued on January 27th. Check the bottom right hand corner of your child's report card to see if they have earned "Honors" or "High Honors." The times for each grade's celebration are:
8:30 - Grade 6
9:15 - Grade 7
10:00 - Grade 8
Student Council has decided to try out a fun and praise-worthy initiative for the month of February; Jaguar of the Day!!! February 17th is World Random Acts of Kindness Day. In the spirit of recognizing random acts of kindness, Student Council will recognize students EACH day of the month who exemplify what it is to be a Jaguar. A Jaguar is someone who is kind, makes good decisions, and isn't afraid to lend a helping hand. Each morning a Jaguar of the day will be announced with a short reason why they have been chosen. See our first nominees below!
Student Council will be selling Candy Grams next week at all lunches. The cost of which is $2.00. Candy Grams will be delivered the following week. This fundraiser will benefit the PSMS Student Council.
The Advanced Learning Opportunities (ALO) Program applications are due by next Friday, 2/10. ALO runs after school from 3-5pm starting on March 6 through April 10. An email with all the information was sent home on Monday. Programs include: chess, cooking, sign language, line dancing., music video production, and babysitting/childcare training. Here is the student application link and parent permission form link. Some programs are almost full. Email questions to lwhyte@plymouth.k12.ma.us.
Students who have shown an initial interest in participating in the inaugural PSMS Unified Basketball will be asked to complete a brief Google Survey gauging their level of interest. We are working on finalizing a team roster before we head into February vacation.
Grade 8 students who are scheduled to participate in this year's Preventure program will have their first session this Tuesday, February 7th. Sessions will begin in the morning after homeroom. Students will receive a pass from their homeroom teacher and will report to a designated location for this program. Students will have session 2 of the program later in the week on Thursday morning. Thank you to all who responded; we are excited for this opportunity for our students.
