Welcome back, Everitt families!

We are so excited to welcome you (or welcome you back) to Everitt this year. Our building is buzzing with staff excitement as we learn how to do and be crew together. But Everitt just isn't Everitt until our students and families return.

We look forward to getting to know our 6th grade and new families this year. Orientation for our 6th grade students will be next Thursday, August 15th. During orientation, we will welcome our incoming students through games, tours, information sessions, an opportunity to walk through their schedule and lots of fun. Orientation will run from 8:55-12:55 and buses will run at 12:55. We welcome all students on Friday, August 16th for a full day of learning.

You can expect the family newsletter on Friday evenings. Below, you can find information about back-to-school night, 6th grade orientation, Everitt's participation in the Carnation Festival parade, our school supplies list, photos of the fun at Camp Everitt, a photo of our new therapy puppy, Junie B, and other important pieces of information. I'm also including photos of our staff learning this week. We had a great time with our staff crew! We are excited to continue learning together next week.

This year we will begin doing Expeditionary Learning crew in our advisement classes. When your child comes home talking about their crew, and I know they will, that is what they are referring to. I want to talk a little bit about the philosophy, value, and importance of crew. Crew helps us to create a deeper sense of belonging for all people in our community. It pairs social emotional learning with academic development to help students play leadership roles in our school and our community. It encourages each member of the community to pitch in and work together. To that end, there will be opportunities for you to pitch in as crew too this year. We will have some options available to sign up for at back to school night.
