Message To Parents From Our Head Of School
Dear Parent/Carer,
I hope this newsletter finds you and your family safe and well.
First, I would like to thank our marvelous PFA for the hard work and dedication they showed while organising and running our Winter Disco. This is the first time we have ever run this and it has proved to be a great success. The PFA have more activities planned for the rest of the year and I know they could do with more help to organise them. If you are interested in joining the PFA, or if you just want to commit to helping out as and when events happen, then please leave your contact details in the Office and someone will get back to you.
The days are beginning to get colder now and as such, children should be wearing a warm winter coat. Please ensure your child has a coat coming to School and please encourage them to wear it whilst outside. Please also encourage them to wear their tie up to their neck. Our children can look very smart in their full uniform. However; some children are wearing their ties with the knot hanging too low down. Please remind them that they are ambassadors for the School when they are travelling to and from School. Having said that, we have had some lovely comments made about our children’s behaviour and appearance by members of the public during recent trips out. You should be very proud of them, as are we.
Finally, a reminder that we are still praying for the departed souls of our community throughout November. If you would like the School to pray for a loved one, please fill in a form in the Office and their name will be placed in our Book of Holy Souls.
I wish you all a very happy weekend.
Regards,
Tony lynch

Remembrance
November is traditionally the month when we remember the Holy Souls. We also remember those who died in war. As a school, we will be supporting the work of the British Legion this month. More details will follow soon. Thank you also to 3H for their wonderful Remembrance Assembly this morning.
On Monday 11th November, Nursery learnt about the significance of poppies on Armistice Day.
We drew our own poppies and cut out badges to wear for the 2 minute silence.
We visited the display in the hall to offer prayers and ask for peace.
It was wonderful to see how engaged the children were with the topic and their level of understanding.
On Armistice Day, Mr Lynch led the whole school in a two minutes silence and a moving liturgy to remember all those who gave their lives in wars. We thank them for their sacrifice and pray for peace in our world.

KS1
- What was Jesus describing to his disciples?
- What will happen when this happens?
- Who is the only one who knows when this will happen?
KS2
- Jesus is describing the end of the world. Where in the Bible can we find out more about this?
- Jesus said everything will pass away, except for what? What do you understand by this?
- How does this piece of scripture make you feel?
- Why do you feel this way?
Attendance
Our whole school attendance is currently at 93.4%
We are working towards achieving 96% attendance this academic year. Please help us to achieve this by ensuring that your child attends school each day and by not booking any holiday during term time. Please be aware that holiday leave in term time cannot be authorised.
In line with the Department for Education guidelines, where pupils miss school without a good reason (including a holiday), the Local Authority and schools can intervene, and you may be issued a fine.
There is strong correlation between good attendance and good progress. So together, let’s give our children the best possible chance of reaching their potential.
Anti-Bullying Week
As part of Anti-bullying week, children enjoyed a range of activities throughout the week to explore bullying and what we can do to stop it from happening. This year the theme was ‘Choose Respect.
We can all do something positive to counteract the harm and hurt that bullying causes.
We can also reach out to others with little acts of kindness which can break down barriers and brighten the lives of the people around us.
Over the last few years, and to raise awareness of bullying, all staff and pupils at St Charles have taken part in ‘Odd Socks day’. This year, we celebrated this on Tuesday, 12th November. Together we will stand united against bullying and raise awareness of this important issue. Our odd socks celebrate our individuality and how we are all unique. It shows it’s okay to be different and to stand up against bullying and discrimination.
We also celebrated ‘Positive Noticing Day’ on 13th November as a school. This initiative helps us celebrate the wonderful qualities of our friends and peers and thank them for their support and kindness.
If at any time you need to speak about your child’s wellbeing in school, please do not hesitate to see your child’s class teacher. At St. Charles, your child’s safety, wellbeing and happiness are of the utmost importance.
