Curriculum Night - Thursday, August 29th
Please join us on Thursday, August 29th for Curriculum/Title I Night. We will first gather in the MPR at 6:00 pm for a presentation from Mr. Manley, our Assistant Principal. Then families will be dismissed to grade level classrooms to receive information from teachers for specific grade levels. There will be two sessions available for families needing to attend for multiple children. Sessions will last 20 minutes, and students are welcome to attend. The schedule is as follows:
6:00-6:30 - Presentation from Mr. Manley (for all families, in MPR)
6:40-7:00 - Grade Level Presentations (for all families, in classrooms)
7:10-7:30 - Grade Level Presentations (only for families with more than one CWC student)
Our school is required to inform you of information that you, according to the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (Public Law 114-95), have the right to know.
Upon your request, our school is required to provide to you in a timely manner the following information:
- Whether your student's teacher has met state qualification and licensing criteria for the grade levels and subject areas i which the teacher provides instruction.
- Whether your student's teacher is teaching under emergency or other provisional status through which state qualification or licensing criteria have been waived.
- Whether your student's teacher is teaching in the field of discipline of the certification of the teacher.
- Whether your child is provided services by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.
In addition to the information that parents may request, a building receiving Title 1.A funds must provide to each individual parent:
- Information on the level of achievement and academic growth of your student, if applicable and available, on each of the state academic assessments required under Title 1.A.
- Timely notice that your student has been assigned, or has been taught for 4 or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who has not met applicable state certification or licensure requirements at the grade level and subject area in which the teacher has been assigned.
Dropff & Pickup Reminders
As we all settle into the new school year, we continue to work as a community to improve the efficiency of our procedures and strive to be good neighbors to others in the community. Please note the following reminders:
- During arrival and dismissal, please be a good neighbor and do not sit idle on Armour or Broadway where parking is not permitted. This causes extra traffic and makes it harder for us to run drop-off and pick-up smoothly. Please use the car line or find a nearby street where parking is allowed and walk to drop off or pick up your child.
- If you pick up your student through the car rider line at dismissal, it is imperative that we do not block driveways on 34th Street so that those neighbors can still get in and out of their homes. If a car is parked along the street, please wait for space to open up before moving around them so that through traffic can still use these routes.
Fall Club Registration
Registration for fall clubs is now open through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal School Store and will close on Tuesday, September 3rd!
Clubs run once a week for 10 weeks, and the cost of each club is $100. Students signed up for clubs must be picked up promptly at 5:00 pm with the exception of Camp Fire students, who will go to their Camp Fire classrooms when clubs finish. Please avoid picking up your child from their club before 5:00 pm because it disrupts club time for the other students. Fall clubs will begin the week of September 16th and run through December 5th, skipping the week of October 28th for conferences and November 25th for Thanksgiving.
To register, log into your Parent Portal, choose School Store, then Shop, and finally Products.
At this point, you can view information about each club, add to your cart, and check out by clicking Submit. Be sure to check the grade levels for each club before submitting.
Spots are limited, so please sign up as soon as possible! As clubs meet minimum enrollment, you will be charged the club fee in your Parent Portal and notified. Limited scholarships are available to families that qualify for free and reduced lunch by completing this scholarship application and will be given out on a first come, first served basis. Students may not begin clubs unless this fee is paid or a scholarship is confirmed.
Please contact kristi.reneau@cwckansascity.org with any questions!
Free & Reduced Lunch Forms
Every year we ask all of our families to complete the Free & Reduced Lunch form, even if you don't believe your family will qualify, as completion of these forms helps our school funding. This form needs to be completed each year, so if you have not yet completed the 2024 FRL form, please be prepared to do so at Curriculum Night this Thursday. Information needed includes household member earnings and other income amounts, benefits case numbers, and the final four numbers of an adult's social security number.
Paper copies are also available in the school lobby. You can learn more about eligibility and print out the application here. If you are not able to attend Curriculum Night, please complete the application as soon as you are able and turn it in at the front desk, send it to school with your student to turn in to their teacher, or even email a clear photo of the form to Mr. Blake Smith.
