ALT ALERT!
Del Amigo & Venture Alternative Education School

Principal's Message
4/17/25
Hello Alternative Education!
I hope everyone enjoyed their Spring Break! We are now fast approaching the end of the school year and we have a lot to prepare for! Seniors and parents of Seniors- please monitor your email for the latest information regarding graduation, cap and gown, etc. All high school students- please make sure you are attending Advisory so you can complete our Student Portfolio, which is very important and mandatory to prepare for life after high school. All portfolios will be due in mid-May.
CAASPP- Students have been working hard on their CAASPP testing. It is very important for all students to engage authentically in the testing so we know which areas of instruction we can improve in as a school. In California, if a school, district, or student group fails to meet the 95% participation rate on the CAASPP (California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress), a penalty, specifically a LOSS (Lowest Obtainable Scale Score), is applied to the Academic Indicator. We really need all of our students to participate so we meet the 95% participation rate.Thank you to all of our students who are showing up and doing their best!
I wanted to remind our Del Amigo students and parents that during the board meeting on April 22nd, the SRVUSD Board of Education will honor Del Amigo being named as a 2025 CA Model Continuation School. Students, parents and staff are invited to attend. This will happen at the beginning of the meeting at 6 pm.
Del Amigo & Venture- Our Leadership and Art students, under the guidance of Ms. Buechler, have begun working on our outside patio garden project. Things are taking shape and they are beginning to build planter boxes, prep the picnic table area, plant flowers and add art to our fence. This will make a great mindfulness space for all students to enjoy when eating lunch and potentially an outside classroom area as well. If you are interested in supporting this project we are accepting gift cards to Home Depot or other places we can buy garden area items at. Swing by and check out the space so you can see it start to take shape! We are super excited and proud that we are kicking off this project just in time for Earth Day next week!
The end of GP 7 and the midpoint to quarter 4 is May 2nd. Please continue to work hard in all subject areas and utilize our Friday in person for extra support!
Keep up the good work!
Ms. Castellano, Principal
