The Lockport Board of Education recently approved the appointment of Dr. Kathleen Bailey as the new Principal of Aaron Mossell Junior High School.
Dr. Bailey brings more than 30 years of education-related experience to the district. Most recently, she served as the Director of Education for Empower (formerly Niagara Cerebral Palsy). Before taking on this role, she worked in Portland, Oregon as the Area Senior Director for Portland Public Schools and spent five years as a principal within the same district. In addition to other leadership roles in Portland, Dr. Bailey also possesses nearly two decades of teaching experience.
No stranger to Western New York weather and football, Dr. Bailey relocated back to her hometown in nearby southern Ontario, Canada. She previous earned her Bachelor’s degree from Niagara University and furthered her education at Concordia University, where she earned both a Master's degree and a Doctorate in Educational Administration.
Lockport Superintendent Dr. Mathis Calvin, III shared, “We are lucky to have Dr. Bailey join our district. I am eager to see her extensive experience in educational leadership come to life at Aaron Mossell. She brings a wealth of innovative ideas and enthusiasm that will benefit both our staff and students.”
He added, "We are grateful to Mr. Christopher Arnold for sharing his time and expertise as the long-
term substitute principal at the junior high school since December 2023. He was the ideal person to
guide our students until we could secure a permanent replacement."
Dr. Bailey will take over as principal this May.
Yours in Education,
Mathis Calvin, III, Ed. D.
Superintendent of Lockport City School District
