Huntley Happenings ~ October 3rd
Family Newsletter
Hello Huntley families,
Congratulations to the winners of our September Attendance Awards, Mrs. Milbach's kindergarten class! Their classroom had the most students here at school ready to learn throughout the past month. As winners, they all received certificates, a visit from the roadrunner stuffie, and an extra recess! Way to go kids! As a reminder, students who miss 2 days a month means they miss 10% of the school year. You can build healthy habits by having a predictable bedtime routine which allows for an adequate amount of sleep. For information on our school's sickness protocol, CLICK HERE.
This month, we have Parent-Teacher Conferences scheduled for Thursday, October 17th and Tuesday, October 22nd. Please sign up for a time that you can meet with your child's teacher(s) using the link below. Conference times are 15 minutes and you'll be able to learn about how your child is doing, both academically and socially. In addition, if you'd like to schedule a conference with any specialist teachers (phy. ed., music, art, etc.), check the link for contact information. The Scholastic Book Fair will be open in the auditorium throughout conference nights from 3:30-7:30.

Deaf Awareness Month
September is recognized as Deaf Awareness Month, which aims to raise awareness and promote better communication practices to support the needs of people who are deaf or hard of hearing. Did you know that we have students here at Huntley who use a variety of communication modes to access spoken messages due to their hearing loss? Some use behind-the-ear hearing aids, others use cochlear implants, some use sign language, and others wear a bone conduction hearing aid. Staff who specialize in working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing are on-site to support these students, their teachers, and peers. Huntley is a welcoming place for all of our students to grow and thrive. To learn more about how Wisconsin schools support our deaf or hard of hearing students, visit https://dpi.wi.gov/sped/program/deaf-hard-of-hearing

Schedule Your 3-5 year Old Child's Screening
Parents/guardians do not need to have concerns to schedule a screening.
The Developmental Screening is designed to:
- Educate families about typical child development and growth
- Develop/Expand awareness of available community resources
- Identify young children in need of further assessment
The Screening looks at all areas of child development including:
- How your child talks
- How your child listens
- How your child thinks
- How your child moves
- How your child uses their hands
The district offers many programs and services for children who may need support before kindergarten to achieve school success.
Screenings are held at the Community Early Learning Center, 313 S. State St., Appleton, WI 54911. Screening appointments are held during the school year from September through March.
