PBL Showcase Cancellation
Due to the impact of the weather on our school week last week, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the public-facing portion of the Fall PBL Showcase that was scheduled for Friday, January 10th. In lieu of the planned showcase, there will be private individual showcases for parents during the second semester Family Conferences in March. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. We will have our Spring PBL Showcase in May, and more details will come as we get closer to that date.
Second Semester Club Registration
Registration for second semester clubs is now open through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal School Store and will close on Wednesday, January 15th!
Clubs run once a week for 10 weeks, and the cost of each club is $100. Students who are signed up for clubs must be picked up promptly at 5:00 pm with the exception of Camp Fire students, who will go to their Camp Fire classrooms when clubs finish. Please avoid picking up your child from their club before 5:00 pm because it disrupts club time for the other students. Winter clubs will begin the week of February 3rd and run through April, skipping March 13th for conferences and the week of March 17th for spring break.
To register, log into your Parent Portal, choose School Store, then Shop, and finally Products. At this point, you can view information about each club, add to your cart, and check out by clicking Submit. Be sure to check the grade levels for each club before submitting.
Spots are limited, so please sign up as soon as possible! As clubs meet minimum enrollment, you will be charged the club fee in your Parent Portal and notified. Limited scholarships are available to families that qualify for free and reduced lunch by completing this scholarship application and will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. For those applying for a scholarship, you must also complete the club registration through your parent portal. Students may not begin clubs unless this fee is paid or a scholarship is confirmed.
Please contact kristi.reneau@cwckansascity.org with any questions!
Caring for Kids Partnerships
We are excited to announce that we will be partnering with Caring for Kids to strengthen our community connections and enhance the support we offer to our students and families. As part of this initiative, we are seeking Midtown businesses and organizations to join our brainstorming team and collaborate on ways to make a positive impact through volunteering, donations, and other resources. If you are a part of an area business or organization that would like to support Citizens in this way, please reach out to Katy Lineberry for more information and an invitation to the kickoff event on February 6th.
MOCSA Presentations This Week
Beginning this week, MOCSA (Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault) will be visiting CWCKC to present age appropriate programming to help keep children and youth safe from sexual abuse and harassment. Check your child's backpack for a letter with the specific date for your child's class.
Kindergarten through 4th grade will participate in Project Aware, which is an educational program that teaches children about different ways to keep their body safe. Students learn the differences between good, bad and confusing touches. Children are taught three safety rules to use if they feel unsafe or uncomfortable: SAY NO, GET AWAY, and TELL SOMEONE. Children are encouraged to identify trusted adults they can talk with. An age appropriate video is shown in class and materials are provided for each child to take home.
5th grade through 8th grade will learn about sexual harassment. They will learn the four types of sexual harassment (physical, verbal, non-verbal, written) and will identify examples in each category. They will discuss consequence of sexual harassment as well as how it might make someone feel if they are harassed. They will also learn strategies to deal with sexual harassment if it happens to them.
If you have any questions concerning either of these programs, you can contact the MOCSA Coordinator of Education and Outreach at 816-285-1354 or projectaware@mosca.org.
If you DO NOT want your child to attend their class's presentation, please contact Johanna Chambers, Director of Student Support at 816-537-1634 or johanna.chambers@cwckansascity.org.
School Saturday - Saturday, January 25th
On Saturday, January 25th our doors will be open from 10 am to 12 pm for prospective families wanting to learn more about our community. Please help us spread the word to any neighbors or friends you know who are looking for a school for their child! We would also love for you to stop by, hang out with us, and say hello to these families!

Re-Enrollment for 2025-2026 Begins February 1st
Current families will be able to re-enroll students for the 2025-2026 school year through your Infinite Campus Parent Portal beginning Saturday, February 1st! This is a quick process of confirming your family information and shouldn't take more than 5-10 minutes, depending on how many students you have enrolled.
Please note that if you have moved since completing your original enrollment, you must update your address and submit one proof of residency. Additionally, students must have updated immunization records on file before beginning school in August, and re-enrollment is the best time to submit them.
Spots for next year are only guaranteed until Friday, February 28th, at which time all remaining seats will be offered to new students in the lottery. Please make sure you complete re-enrollment in February! You can learn more by visiting the Re-Enrollment page of the CWCKC website.
If you have other children whom you would like to enroll as new students at CWC for the 2025-2026 school year, be sure to fill out the SchoolAppKC application before March 1st so that they have the best chance for a spot in the lottery. Reach out to Katy Lineberry with any questions about enrollment for new or current students.
