Message from the Principal
Semester Two - Semester one officially ended on Friday, January 17th, and we are now one week into semester two. For our seniors, this marks the beginning of their final semester before graduation in June! As we prepare for this milestone, we are closely monitoring student progress to ensure that our seniors meet the requirements to participate in the graduation ceremony. It is important to note that only students who have successfully completed all graduation requirements will be eligible to participate in the ceremony. We want every senior to walk across the stage in June, so if you have any questions about your child’s progress toward graduation, please reach out to their school counselor. Our team is dedicated to supporting students and communicating with parents and caregivers regularly. Below are the names and email addresses should you wish to reach out to your student's counselor.

The Cooney Cup and Quarter Three Challenge - You may have heard about the Cooney Cup, a spirited competition among our homebase teams that’s been ongoing since the start of the school year. Next week, we’ll kick off our first quarter three challenge: a door decorating contest with the theme of “Sunshine and Inspiration.” We’re looking forward to seeing the creativity of our students and teachers, and we’ll be sure to share photos of their designs with you!
Thank you for your ongoing partnership and commitment to supporting our school community. If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Parent, Caregiver, and Community Groups at LUHS
Partners in Education (PIE) - Partners in Education (PIE) is a group of parents, caregivers, and community members that are excited to help Lamoille Union High School enhance our community connections, educational experiences, and sense of belonging within our school community. So far this year, PIE has organized activities to share our community's gratitude for our faculty and staff. They have also helped plan student activities for special events, such as World Kindness Week. If you are interested in learning more about PIE, please contact Katie Belval, ktbelval1@hotmail.com.
Lamoille Boosters Club - While the Lamoille Boosters Club operates independently of the school, this parent and caregiver group provides vital support to all Lamoille Union athletic programs. Their contributions are wide-ranging and impactful, from organizing fundraising initiatives and awarding scholarships to funding fun team-building activities and purchasing equipment. Whether it’s hosting events, rallying school spirit, or ensuring our athletes have the resources they need, the Boosters Club is committed to LUHS athletic success and pride. If you are interested in learning more about the Lamoille Booster’s Club, please contact Lamoille Union Athletic Director, Tim Messier at tmessier@knsd.org and he can help get you connected.
Lamoille Athletic Council - The Lamoille Athletic Council is a hands-on group that works closely with the athletic director to ensure the smooth operation of our sports programs. They play a key role in organizing athletic events, managing admissions tables, and supporting logistical needs. Their behind-the-scenes efforts help create a seamless experience for players, coaches, and spectators, ensuring that every event reflects the excellence and pride of Lamoille athletics. If you would like to know more about the LAC, please contact Lamoille Union Athletic Director, Tim Messier at tmessier@knsd.org.
Progress Reports
As we approach the close of the semester, we would like to provide clarity around progress reports. For semester long courses, you will see a final course score as semester classes will be ending on January 17th. For year long courses, you will see an in-progress score, as these courses continue through June. Only final course scores impact students’ grade point averages (GPAs). If you have any questions, please reach out to your student's school counselor.
GMTCC
Green Mountain Technology and Career Center applications are open! 9th graders interested in the Pre-Tech program and all 10th and 11th graders interested in applying to one of the GMTCC programs should apply now. Although applications remain open into the new year, programs are filling up quickly! Please be sure to apply as soon as possible.
Students can apply at any time using the links below. We highly encourage students to set up a meeting with their school counselor to discuss their goals and review graduation progress, but it's not a requirement to apply.

NWEA Map Testing
On February 11th, all students in grades 9-12 will participate in our winter session of NWEA MAP testing. This valuable assessment helps us measure academic growth and identify areas where students may need additional support in both literacy and math. Testing will take place during regular Block 1 and Block 2 classes. The data collected from these assessments will be used to make shifts in instructional practices, provide information to inform interventions, and plan for enrichment opportunities.
LUHS Highlights!
Above: Nordic coaches joined in on the fun during the LU home race this week. Congratulations to Zeb Whitlock and Ben Gale for taking 1st place in the relay! Thomas Sullivan and Ethan Rossi came in 3rd, Elliot Rowe and Sam Rossi in 5th, Leah Jourdan and Hailey Porter 8th, Leland Naugle and Jack Neckers 9th, and Maisie Thompson and Livia Padulo 12th. Congratulations to all of our relay teams!
Congratulations Elliot!
On Monday, January 20th, senior Lancer Elliot Rowe competed in the first annual Vermont Skimeister competition, which combines an Alpine race and a Nordic race, with combined times determining the results. Elliot places 2nd in the high school category and 5th overall out of nearly 100 competitors. This remarkable achievement highlights his strengths as a member of both the Alpine and Nordic teams at LU. Great job, Elliot!

Lamoille Union High School Support LACN
Our students have helped one of our beloved community members, Susie Wells (Grannie), cut out hearts that will be sold for $1 each, with all proceeds going to the Lamoille Area Cancer Network.
Purchased hearts will be displayed in the Lamoille Union lobby, creating a meaningful tribute while supporting an important cause! You can purchase hearts at a host of upcoming Lancer home basketball games. See the graphic for more info. So come out and support our hoop teams and a fantastic local organization that is doing great work!
