Dear Werner Community,

I also want to thank you all for your support of our Read-A-Thon. You'll see more details coming soon, but this will be one of our largest grossing fundraisers ever! Students will get their prizes later next week and I think there will be slime being dumped on me by some of our highest earners. Stay tuned on more with that! Thank you to our PTA for organizing and supporting such a great fundraiser!
Last, I want to encourage you to invite any special veteran, to your family, for our Veteran's Day breakfast and concert next Friday, November 8. I hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy the extra hour you get this weekend!
Best regards,
Hayden

NEWS FROM PSD
Registration and School of Choice Information
Oct. 28, 2024
Dear Poudre School District community:
PSD will begin accepting both school registration and first-round school choice applications for the 2025-26 school year on the same date: Monday, Nov. 4, 2024.
Poudre School District is proud to offer strong academic and social opportunities for students in each of our 54 schools. Attending a neighborhood school means living near classmates and building a tight knit community together over time.
However, we know some families want to enroll their children in schools outside their neighborhood to participate in a specific program or curriculum that best meets their children’s educational needs. PSD’s K-12 school choice program offers them this opportunity.
School Choice for the 2025-26 school year
The first window of opportunity for families to apply for school choice for 2025-26 is Nov. 4 through Dec. 16, 2024. The application will become available at psdschools.org on Nov. 4. First-round seat offers will be sent the week of January 5, 2025. Those offered a seat must respond to the offer within five weekdays, or the offer will be marked as declined and the application removed from the school’s waitlist. Weekdays are defined as Monday through Friday, including any holidays and school closure days during the week.
- First-round applications are processed through a lottery, not on a first-come, first-served basis. A priority ranking system is used in this process. Please review the School Choice policy and priority rankings.
- Applicants can apply to multiple schools, but they must submit a separate application for each school and cannot rank them in order of preference.
- Submitting a school choice application does not guarantee enrollment at a particular school. Acceptance is based on eligibility requirements and space availability at each school.
- Students who currently attend a school through school choice do not need to re-apply to continue at that school in 2025-26.
- Students on a school’s waitlist for the 2024-25 school year who have not yet received a seat offer must re-apply for consideration in the 2025-26 school year – an application for 2024-25 does not carry over to 2025-26.
A second-round school choice window is scheduled to open in mid-January 2025.
- Unlike the first-round, applications are based on priority ranking and the date and time of when the application was submitted (not a lottery system).
- Students are placed on the waitlist after any first-round applicants within the applicable priority ranking.
Registration in PSD
Online registration for new students and students who previously attended PSD, left, and are returning for the 2025-26 school year will begin Monday, Nov. 4, 2024. To learn more about online registration and enrolling new or returning students, visit the PSD Online Registration web page.
Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten families can register online beginning Nov. 4, 2024, or in-person at their PSD neighborhood elementary school on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2024. Contact your student’s PSD neighborhood school for school hours and visit the School Locator to determine which school is your neighborhood school.
Parents/legal guardians must register students entering kindergarten at their designated PSD neighborhood school, even if a school choice application is pending. Please refer to District Policy JEB for age requirements for kindergarten in PSD.
- Registering at the PSD designated neighborhood school does not impact a pending school choice application or potential seat offers from a choice school or program.
- Parents/legal guardians of incoming kindergartners should register as soon as possible to help schools to determine their classroom sizes, staffing needs, and the number of school choice seats they can offer. However, online registration will still be available for families throughout the rest of the year.
- To learn more about kindergarten registration, visit www.psdschools.org/kinder.
Learning About PSD Schools
Many schools host information sessions, tours, and open houses. Please contact the school or schools you are interested in applying to for details about their events. You can also learn more about our schools and programs at www.psdschools.org/schools or view our PSD at a Glance guide to schools in English, Spanish, or Arabic.
Sincerely,
Poudre School District
Staff, Family, and Community Engagement Norms
Oct. 23, 2024
Dear PSD parents and guardians:
In an effort to foster a culture of mutual respect, effective communication, and quality customer service, PSD has created a set of norms for staff, family/guardian, and community engagement. These norms aim to set a positive tone for interactions between staff and parents and community members, whether they happen in person, over the phone, or in writing.
The norms will be posted in all PSD schools and include expectations that:
- Calls or emails that are not emergencies will be acknowledged within three school days.
- Appointments between the parties involved will be established as a norm for addressing concerns or discussing important matters through direct communication.
- Appointments will take place as soon as reasonably possible. Adequate time is needed for preparation and research before an appointment.
- Communication will focus on collaboration and understanding – respectful language and non-confrontational behavior from all parties are expected.
- Boundaries between personal and professional life will be maintained, and sensitive matters will not be addressed in community settings.
If you experience an emergency or need to report an immediate safety or criminal issue, please contact 911. You can also visit See Something, Say Something to learn about reporting a tip through Safe2Tell, learn about reporting sexual harassment, or report harassment or other incidents of concern through the incident report system.
It’s important for everyone in our schools and in our communities to feel welcome and engage in mutual respect to best serve students. Thank you for taking the time to read this message.
Sincerely,
PSD Assistant Superintendents
Volunteers are needed across Poudre School District to support our Teachers & Students!
PSD sends frequent emails to currently registered volunteers, but those are getting lost in some recipients' junk mail folders. If you are registered as a volunteer with PSD, please check your junk mail & mark those sent by "Volunteer Coordinator" as safe to receive.
For those who are not yet registered to volunteer but want to help in our schools please visit - Volunteer Registration
PSD Now Newsletter
One of many ways information is shared is through the PSD Now community newsletter, which features timely information about the latest happenings in the district. This is emailed to families and interested community members about every other Thursday.
