A Message From the Principal
Good Evening:
We hope you and your family have had a fabulous Memorial Day Weekend!
We have only 2.5 days of the school remaining and this fact seems to be not possible! As we reflect on the school year we know that all of our students have made significant strides for which each should be very proud of as they reflect upon their school year. Overall student choices made DMIS a safe, positive, and engaging learning environment. Over half of our students had no behavior referrals throughout the school year. Half of our students attended school at a 95% or higher rate. High expectations for all produced stronger reading and math performance over the last school year, and the one prior. Students eligible for reward activities increased and relationships with teachers and peers were notably very positive and healthy. Our teachers, without fail, rewarded students as frequently as possible for their hard work and good choices. Parents, you supported your children in achieving this success and we thank you for all of your contributions. Lastly, the future of DMIS will be in the hands of great teachers, staff, and currently two excellent administrators (Ms. Gates, new principal and Ms. DiGiovanni, current assistant principal). New passion, creativity, and community involvement will greatly enhance school life at DMIS!
Please note a special message from DMMS for all current DMIS families:
We will be holding an information session for both academics and athletics on May 29th at 5:00 in the auditorium. This is for all current 5th and 6th grade families. The athletics director and administrative team will be there to answer questions and provide information about middle school. We look forward to seeing you there!
As this is my last Morgan Messenger, thank you to all of you who have supported the mission of supporting our students so as to support the goals of building great citizens, learners, friends, and helpers to others. While the work continues, I have great faith that DMIS is, and will be, a great place for all students to learn and thrive! Much peace and joy to each of your and your families. Laura Evy

DMIS Notices
Chronic Absenteeism- Students missing 10% or more of the total days in attendance are considered chronically absent. This percentage is measured by the state. While we saw great improvement last year, we have more work to do and attend to individual school attendance weekly. Please know that unexcused absences may accumulate and lead to involvement from our Attendance Team which will result in a meeting at the school. Again, please call when your child is absent so that he/she may be counted as excused.

Reminders
- Parents who pull in to the Visitor/Guest Parking lot will now have access to more spaces as staff will not be parking in two rows of the visitor's parking lot. Please do not park around the perimeter of the lot or enter staff parking areas in the morning or afternoon. Parking lots are not for student drop-off in the morning or pick-up in the afternoon. Thank you very much for helping to keep our students and staff safe!
- Drop-Off- Please know that drop-off time is 8:00 AM. We have no supervision outside until that time and students should remain in cars until a staff member is present at the car loop. Thank you so much for helping us to keep our students safe! Please note the increase in car traffic on inclement weather days. Adjustments have been made to the intermediate and school car loops which have greatly helped the flow of traffic on Purcell and in these loops. Please follow the directions of staff at the loop to keep traffic moving and students safe throughout the drop-off and pick-up process. Also, thank you for not using parking lots as student drop-off locations. Students and staff walk and run across these areas frequently in the morning and afternoon.
- Parent Appointments- Please call the front office (540-667-7171) to make an appointment with principals or send an email. We want to be available to our parents. We are in meetings, teacher observations, and serving in duties throughout the day and don't want our parents to come to the school when no one is available. Of course, in emergency situations, our office staff will summon an administrator.
