Miles Elementary
Welcome to the Miles Elementary Newsletter
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We wanted to inform you that we’ve been seeing an increase in illnesses among our students. To help us keep everyone healthy and safe, we ask for your cooperation with the following:
- Doctor's Notes: Please ensure that you provide a doctor’s note if your child has been seen by a physician.
- Fever Policy: If your child has a fever, please keep them at home until they are fever-free for at least 24 hours without medication. Follow your doctor’s guidance on when it is safe for your child to return to school.
- Make-Up Work:
-
It is the responsibility of the student to do his or her make-up work upon returning to school, but all teachers should encourage or remind the student if make-up is not completed in a timely manner. The number of consecutive days absent will determine the number of days allowed for make-up work, excluding weekends and holidays. Special arrangements may be made if the student has missed three or more days. A student who does not make up assigned work within the time allotted by the teacher will receive a grade of zero for the assignment, but the student will complete the assignment regardless of the grade.
We appreciate your partnership in maintaining a healthy school environment. Thank you for helping us support the well-being of all our students.
Sincerely,
Curt McKneely
Elementary Principal

USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) published the final rule titled, Child Nutrition Programs: Meal Patterns Consistent With the 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, which is the next step in continuing the science-based improvement of school meals and other USDA child nutrition programs (CNP), as well as advancing USDA’s commitment to nutrition security. The changes are based on a comprehensive review of the Dietary Guidelines for Americans, 2020-2025, robust
stakeholder input on the CNP meal patterns, and lessons learned from prior rulemakings.
While this rulemaking is effective July 1, 2024, USDA is gradually phasing in required changes over time. Program operators are not required to make any changes to their menus as a result of this rulemaking until school year 2025-26 at the earliest.
