Halloween at Whitney
Costumes will be permitted on Thursday, October 31st at school. This is optional and just for those who would like to participate.
OUR COSTUME RULES
Tuesday the 31st during the day,
we can wear something fun,
But there are a few rules
about how it is done.
Kids have nightmares,
and that can be rough...
So no blood, and no gore,
and no creepy stuff!
You may wear something
silly or stylish or fancy.
You may dress like your pet
or your cousin named Nancy.
You may wear your costume,
a crown or a hat.
Don’t bring toy weapons,
props, or extras like that!
We must see your face
to get your name right,
So save your face paint and mask
for Halloween night.
We still have to learn,
and we still have to play;
so make sure you wear something
You can work and play in that day!
Running Club Update
Whitney Lunch Club
Did you know Whitney offers mini enrichment activities for our students in 1st - 6th grade during lunch recess three times a week? During the month of September we had over 370 students participate!
Do you have a talent or skill (big or small) that our students might be interested in and have extra time during the lunch hour? (It can be anything from card tricks, yo-yoing, crafting, yoga, dancing, bracelet making, etc.) We want to hear from you!
We are currently looking for a volunteer to organize and run a 4-5 week co-ed Intramural Soccer Team for 5th and 6th graders during lunch recess one day a week.
If you are interested in donating resources for Lunch Club activities here is our ongoing Wish List. We appreciate you!
If you are interested in volunteering or have questions, please contact Kayce Anderson at kayce.anderson@boiseschools.org or call 208-900-7106.
Girls' Basketball
Our two 5th and 6th grade girls' basketball teams have a busy month of games ahead.
What's on the Menu?
School breakfast and lunch are free for our students. Please note that students who bring their lunches from home can buy a milk for 80 cents (or they can take a fruit, vegetable, and milk for no charge). More information can be found at the BSD Food & Nutrition Services website.

Birthday Celebrations
We love having our birthday students announced each week and watching them select books from our Birthday Book Cart! Students with October birthdays will receive a treat in the cafeteria at lunch time on Friday, October 25th.
*We will no longer accept birthday treats or goodie bags for class birthday celebrations. This will help us celebrate every student and ensure we’re following BSD Board policy.
Please pick up after your pet on school grounds so we can have a clean and safe place for our students to play. Thank you!

Dear Parent or Guardian:
Federal law requires that each Title I-A school notify families/parents of each student attending any school receiving these funds that information regarding the professional qualifications of their child’s classroom teacher(s) may be requested.
As a parent or guardian of a student attending a school receiving Title I-A funds, you have the right to request the following information:
· Is my child’s teacher licensed to teach the grade(s) and subject(s) assigned?
· What is the college major of my child’s teacher(s)?
· What degree or degrees does my child’s teacher(s) hold?
· To request the state qualifications for any of your child’s teacher(s) and/or paraprofessional(s), please contact the school.
If you would like more information about the school’s Title I-A program, feel free to contact us.
You will be notified if your child is being taught by a teacher over four or more consecutive weeks who does not meet state licensure requirements for the teaching assignment.
Thank you,
Rebecca Severson, Principal
Whitney Elementary School
