Welcome to 2025
January Newsletter
A Message from Principal Markovich
Beginning 2025 offers us the opportunity to reflect on the possibilities the new year offers. It the time for new opportunities, renewed energy, and growth. It is also the time to relfect on what we learned, experienced, enjoyed and carry these things forward with us. At MSA we plan to keep the momentum going and support each other as we step into the new block. Thank you to all the parents, influencial adults, students, and staff who make MSA a place of Peace, Understanding, Sucess, and Hope.
Noteworthy Updates
from our counselor, Joel Young
New year, new beginnings, new... sometimes the same old same old. I am not big on making New Year's Resolutions because I tend to get discouraged when I fail to meet them. As an "all or nothing" kind of person, I find that I give up too easily so my advice to you is to give yourself some grace and work with small success as you make life changes for your physical and mental health!
from our Student Support Services Coordinator, Trashell Snow
Seniors that completed their graduation requirements in December, or will complete them in March participated in Senior Practice Interviews. Steve Wilmott from Grand Savings Bank and Abi Davis from City Hall volunteered their time to conduct these interviews. The seniors participating shared that the interview was a good experience and they appreciated the opportunity. We are thankful for the collaboration of the community with this activity.
Students are applying to college programs, investigating careers, and updating their resumes. At this point 46% of our seniors have submitted one or more scholarship applications. The deadline to submit the SSHS Community Scholarship Application is January 23rd.
In Memory
Although we are saddened to share the news that one of our students, Nathen Crittenden, passed away in November, we share with his family's permission that due to organ donation, his legacy will live on.
