Dr. O's Outlook
Greetings, Black Knights!
One more week to go! It's hard to believe that we are almost halfway done with the year - time flies when you're having fun. We have had an excellent first semester of learning, building relationships, and expanding opportunities for students.
Over the last 18 months, a new student group has been developed at BHS. Collective Impact is a club that works to connect the school and community to provide events, programming, and support. Recently, the group opened "Knights Knecessities," a thrift store and free convenience store for students in need at the high school. The store is open twice a week and is stocked with clothing, toiletry items, snacks, and other supplies, all available at no cost thanks to the generous donations of community members, groups, and businesses. What an awesome example of our students serving each other!
Collective Impact is also sponsoring the Grateful Hearts Community Dinner on December 20. This is a free holiday meal available to anyone in the Belding community. The students have been planning the event, will be preparing the meal and serving food, and will provide other entertainment during the dinner. They will also be preparing meals to be delivered for folks in the community who would prefer it or cannot make it up to the high school. For more information and to RSVP, please click here: Grateful Hearts Community Dinner.
Have a great weekend,
Dr. O

Our first FAFSA night of the year was held on Wednesday and it was a great evening for all! More than 25 families joined us to tackle the FAFSA form. BHS Mentorship Program
We are excited to bring back our Mentorship Program to connect community members with students in order to build stronger relationships and habits. If you are interested in becoming a mentor, the process is very simple! First, please email Jennifer Lien at lienj@bas-k12.org. She will give you information about training and expectations. Truly, the time commitment is whatever you make it. We hope that mentors will check in with students at least a couple times per month. Please help us rebuild this program to provide additional supports for our kids!
