CCS Social Studies Curriculum Quarterly, Quarter 4
The CCS Social Studies Curriculum Quarterly provides a preview of upcoming content. Articles highlight the units, standards, TCI lessons and other resources for each core social studies class, and outline some effective instructional strategies for all courses.
The Quarter 4 edition highlights two frequently-used strategies in fourth quarter lessons, Experiential Exercise and Visual Discovery. Strategy correlations to each TCI lesson are included in the summary of each course content.
American Government Scope & Sequence Survey
American Government curriculum will be revised for 2024-2025. Financial Literacy content will be removed. Student Interactions with Peace Officers will be added.
This update provides an opportunity to consider scope and sequence options as well. Three possible models are provided on the survey below. Please indicate the option that you prefer. The TCI Government Alive! digital textbook can be customized to align with any scope and sequence.
Note: This survey is only about the Scope & Sequence of the course. We are not considering new textbooks or adopted resources at this time.
Achieve3000
Achieve3000 returned in January as the literacy intervention program for high schools. High School teachers and students now have access to Achieve3000 via Clever.
At the March 6 PD Day awards were distributed to the three schools with the highest percentage of students who completed LevelSet. The trophy awards will travel based on each month's contest.
Top Three Awards
1st Place - Mifflin High School (86.6% completion)
2nd Place - Northland High School (79.2% completion)
3rd Place - East High School (71.3% completion)
LevelSet remains open and available for students who not have yet completed it. This may be completed in any class of any subject, grades 9-11. Once LevelSet is complete, you will be able to assign content-specific lessons/articles aligned with your curriculum. The goal will be for each content-area teacher to assign 1 article per week, in order to help students reach maximum gains.
Alignment guides for Modern World History 9, American History 10, and American Government are available on the Social Studies Curriculum page.
Here are some helpful resources for getting started with the LevelSet and Achieve3000 implementation.
For additional support, teachers can schedule a time for drop-in office with Romana Bertolotti, Achieve Product Manager.
