Greetings from Pastor John
This Sunday we will be looking into Hebrews chapter 2. The first part of the chapter deals with an exhortation and a challenge to pay attention to God who is reconciling the world to Himself. That it is a worthy role to pay attention to Christ.
Christ is worth paying attention to because He went before us, became like us, and suffered on our behalf. The idea of suffering is central to the chapter. It is central to the ministry of Christ so that we can be brought entirely back to Him. He tasted death (2:9) so that we would have One who can walk with us in suffering.
Because we will need another when we struggle. When we suffer. God who “left nothing outside his control” (2:8) walks with us when it is difficult for us to walk because He has gone first.
See you Sunday!
John

A Message from Arlene
- We are very excited about the participant submissions we have received so far. A list is being compiled, and we will be sending out requests for further information soon. Thanks to those who have volunteered. There is still time to sign up!
- We are including an additional component to the Talent Night. Along with the art displays in the gym there will be a raffle table. We are seeking out suitable items to be raffled off. We hope some of you will consider donating art or decor, putting together a themed basket or perhaps donating a service or a meal (for instance someone offered an Italian dinner for four as an item). Who remembers the year John Eger gladly allowed us to give someone a chance to throw a pie in his face??
- Do you like to read aloud? Are you not shy in front of a crowd? Arlene is gathering together volunteers for a dramatic choral reading of the resurrection of Lazarus story. This could be a multi-generational opportunity. Interested? Please fill out a Next Step card or speak to Arlene.
If you have used Tithely in the past, please use the link above and sign up to use the Church Center. We will no longer be using Tithely as of January 1, 2025. If you use ACH on Church Center, the fee is currently 30 cents, credit / debit card fees vary.
Family Discussion Starters
•How was Peter able to heal the man who couldn’t walk?
•How can people see the power of God in our lives?
Because we have experienced the miracle of our salvation from sin and new life in Jesus, we boldly and graciously proclaim the gospel and minister to those in need.
• HEAD: What are your thoughts about those who are broken and need Jesus?
• HEART: What pride issues reside in you today?
• HANDS: Who can you serve this week who are considered marginalized?
Family Activity
Lead kids to investigate different objects in their home that require power. Invite kids to share what type of power sources these objects use such as gas, electricity, solar, etc. Talk about the power of the Holy Spirit and how He is greater than any other power. Remind kids that every believer is empowered by the Holy Spirit to live for Jesus and to share Him with others.
Voices from Church History
“If indeed it was all the prophets and not only one of them who said this, it follows that, although the event took place through ignorance, it did not take place contrary to God’s ordinance. See how great is the wisdom of God, when it uses the wickedness of others to bring about what must be.” 2 –Chrysostom (c. 347–407)
