Red Shirt Special Dress Day January 29: Students are invited to replace their uniform shirt with a red shirt in honor of our Spring Festival celebration assembly. Regular uniform pants and proper school shoes must still be worn. Students not in a red shirt are expected to wear the full uniform, including a blazer during assembly.
Winter Gryphon Sale Tally: Thank you to everyone who donated uniform items and joined us at the Gryphon Sale on January 15. We raised $4506 for the Nancy Pitfield Endowment fund which is used to offer a one-year partial bursary to a student in Grade 7. The next Gryphon Sale is slated for May 14, 2025. We are extremely low on stock, so please continue to drop off any gently used uniform articles you may have in the bins located just inside the front door of the school. Thank you!
Middle School participated in Beach Day this week. Thanks to everyone who dressed up! Your school spirit was a welcome “ray of sunshine” on a cold winter day! Because of the extreme weather, the polar dip event was unfortunately cancelled. We enjoyed ice cream at lunch to celebrate!!
Reminders for Visitors: We remind all parents and guests to follow these safety measures when visiting Selwyn House:
Use only the main entrance. All visitors must come through the main doors of the Lucas building and sign in at the reception desk. Visitors can gain access to the Speirs and Macaulay buildings after they have signed in.
Sign in and out at the reception desk. All visitors must present themselves at the reception desk and receive a visitors badge so they are easily identified while they are at Selwyn House.
Close the doors behind you. If an unfamiliar individual approaches the door as you're being buzzed in, kindly allow the door to close behind you so they can follow the visitor protocol as well. Prioritizing the safety of our students is always appreciated by our community!

Periodic Table of Black Canadians: To celebrate Black History Month, we are making a Periodic Table of Canadian Black History to highlight notable Canadian Black figures, past and present, who have made impressive contributions to our society. Complete with QR codes, our periodic table will be displayed and will allow students and staff to learn more about these Black Canadians through biographies, news articles, or videos. Use this Google Form to submit the name of your Black Canadian, include a reliable source of information about your figure & earn house points! Submit by January 31, 2024. The completed table will be unveiled in February.
Bubble Tea Project: As announced in yesterday’s assemblies, students can order bubble tea from Grade 10 student Nathan Chen’s company until January 29. Students must order between 7am-10pm the day before using his website. The day after you place your order, you can pick up your drink from Nathan’s table just outside of Coristine Hall at lunchtime. All of the profits will be donated to a local organization and/or to future student initiatives. Please note: because Once 30 orders have been placed per day, the website will display "Sold Out." You will be able to place an order the following day.
Contactivity Sign Up: Our intergenerational programs with the Contactivity Centre have started again! If you are interested in crafting (MS), digital literacy teaching assistance, or friendly visiting, use this link to sign up for our winter activities.
