Ireland Pictures
The band had a great time in Ireland over spring break! Pictures from the trip can be found here!
Spirit Guard
If you know of anyone who may be interested in joining color guard, have them come out to Spirit Guard. The next and final practice will be on Tuesday, April 1st from 4:30-6:00 in Gym 2!
UTA Double Reed Day
UTA's Double Reed Day is happening on Saturday, April 5 from 8am-5pm. This event is free to attend and open to oboists and bassoonists of all ages and skill levels! It is a super fun event with guest artists performing in recitals, masterclasses, and elective classes. At the end of the day, everyone learns new ensemble music and plays together as a giant oboe choir and double reed ensemble.
Our featured guest artists this year are oboist Dr. Euridice Alvarez from Baylor University and bassoonist Dr. Darrel Hale from University of North Texas!
There also is an optional solo contest, which costs $7 to enter. There are two divisions: Junior High (5th-8th grade) and High School (9th-12th grade.) It is a great opportunity to prepare for solo contest or State Solo and Ensemble and receive written feedback from a panel of double reed players. Prizes for the winners include free lessons, gift cards to Bocal Majority, and the high school winners get to perform with piano on the final recital. All of the details are on the registration website.
I hope that you will register and join me on April 5! It's going to be a great time!

PTSA
The GHS PTSA gathers all of our parent volunteer hours every month. No time is too little to submit- if you volunteered even a half hour handing out popsicles, they want to know!
This will be the same link you will submit your volunteer hours to every month (by the 10th).
Thanks for all the time you spend supporting our students! We couldn’t do it without your support!
