What is Media Literacy?
The heart of media literacy is empowering young people to be mindful media consumers and creators and to make wise choices through informed inquiry that inspires independent thinking and fosters critical analysis. In the recent past, the focus on traditional literacy skills worked towards ensuring that students were prepared to participate fully as engaged citizens and functioning adults in society. Recognizing the need to prepare young people for living in a global media world, media literacy expands upon traditional notions of literacy to include viewing, creating, and sharing through all forms of media.
Media Literacy Matters.
Media is everywhere.
Media sends powerful messages to young minds.
What are the effects media on a young person's identity?
