From Mrs. Barry
Yesterday, we had the honor of celebrating my dad's 94th birthday. Though he's not on social media, it was fun and heart-warming to see how many people sent well-wishes via my siblings and me. My dad had a lengthy career in education, and though his students and colleagues remember him as being quite strict and tough, he also has a reputation of being kind and fair, as always being there when you need someone, and even now, being someone you can go to for advice and support. That is his true legacy.
As we continue our yearlong celebration of Meadow Wood's 60th anniversary, I'd like to focus on our Eagle Expectations: Be Kind. Be Safe. Be Responsible. Be Respectful. Though our main business is academics, these expectations are critical to developing the kind of Eagle that builds the legacy for which we are known. Lately, we are seeing more unkind and disrespectful behaviors in classrooms, both toward peers and toward teachers. This isn't who we are, and we need your help in reinforcing the importance of not only being kind and respectful, but encouraging - and expecting - others to do so as well. This is who we are as Meadow Wood Eagles, and this is part of the legacy we have built, and continue to build, daily.
Thank you for your continued support! It's a great day to be an Eagle! #60years
Why cook for your little ghosts and goblins on Halloween? Instead, order a Chick-Fil-A nugget tray and support MWE at the same time! See flyer below for details!

MWE Garden
Have you noticed out beautiful garden area? In addition to beautiful flowers that attract butterflies, we have a “pizza” garden growing herbs and tomatoes that you can put on a pizza. There are tomatoes, basil, oregano, bell pepper and many other wonderful vegetables. Students in our garden club are learning all about growing, and using the what is grown to make a pizza! Take a look at the amazing garden the next time you are on campus, and be sure to thank Kate Nixon and Hunter Nelson for all the hard work making this happen. Kate is at Meadow Wood almost daily maintaining the beautiful garden and sponsoring the garden club.

Entries for the PTA Reflections Competition are due Thursday, October 31st with the theme being "Accepting Imperfection". This is a wonderful opportunity for kids to show their creative side. If your child needs some ideas, last year our very own Maddie Northington entered a photograph; Piper and Owen Nixon both submitted pieces of art and Rose Sweeney submitted a short story. Visit Meadow Wood Elementary PTA - Reflections for more rules and forms.
It’s time to submit parties for Fall Auction! Deadline to submit is this Thursday, October 31st. Online form at: 2024 Fall Auction Party Host Sign-up (google.com)
All of these programs are made possible because of the invaluable support from sponsors. This week we want to highlight Home Security Systems, Inc. Please support this business with your patronage. Visit Home Security Systems - Security Monitoring, Local Call Center for more information.
