4 Day masterclass contemporary dancer- felted sculptures
contemporary Dancer workshop, September 15-16-17-18, 2022
In these 4 days we are going to make a free standing wet felted sculpture on a wire armature , 50 cm tall - plinth not included.
Your teacher will be Molly Williams from the UK, a textile artist specialising in figurative felt sculpture. Organization by Rianne Vermeulen.
The program
This is an exciting workshop where you will make a free-standing figure , 50 cm tall. You wil learn a new, energetic wet felted process that has smilarities to sculpting with clay and can be easily adapted to make any shape or form.
On day 1 ;
- you make all the preparations for the sculpture like pre-felt and a information how to make a
sculpture
On day 2;
- you make the skeleton and start to form the sculpture
On day 3 & 4:
- you are going to felt the skin and the decorative skin and at the end of day 4 you have your own sculpture to admire!!
About Molly Williams
Molly lives in England and works from her studio in the garden, She teaches felt scuptures internationally and online. Molly has been a member of several textile and craft groups and has exhibited her work yearly in London. Contemporary dance and modern and ancient sculpture inform the shapes and movement of her felt sculptures and figurative shapes are a feature of Molly's textile art. She has developed a unique way of wet sculpting wool fibers to make these forms. Her research interest is in Ottoman textiles, costumes and ceramics. She has studied Ottoman costume and design to create replica kaftans and pattern design to be used to print textiles , wall-art and other products
