Earth Day '24: Planet vs Plastics
On April 22, more than a billion people will celebrate Earth Day by taking part in activities like picking up litter, collecting recyclable materials, and planting trees.
The first Earth Day was celebrated in 1970, when a United States senator from Wisconsin organized a national demonstration to raise awareness about environmental issues. By 1990, Earth Day was celebrated by more than 140 countries around the globe (source: National Geographic).
Check out how the East Leyden Clubs are making positive contributions to the environment and learn about things YOU can do to support the Earth.
