"Bytes" From Your School Leader, Dr. Townsend
March 28, 2025,
Greetings Phalen Virtual Leadership Academy Families,
Happy Friday! We hope you enjoyed your Spring Break and the final few days before we are back in school. We are ready to see you and get back to learning and growing together!
We have an urgent update regarding our 2024-2025 Academic Calendar. School is NOT closed on Monday, April 21, 2025. School is in session on Monday, April 21, 2025. Please adjust your calendars, as Indy scholars will begin ILEARN state testing that week, so attendance and participation is vital. Our 2025-2026 Academic Calendar is LIVE! Please see the link below in the "Mark Your Calendars" section to help you plan for the upcoming school year at PLA Virtual.
I have some very exciting news to share regarding IREAD-3 when we return from break! I want to wait, so we can all celebrate together!
When we return, we will be gearing up for Spring State Testing, so please be sure to get lots of rest, stay connected to learning through reading, writing, connecting math to life, exploring and discovering new things.
Exciting news!!! We were able to support one additional teacher for Summer Advantage and enrollment is now open for ALL scholars in Grades K-8. You should have received a text message and an email with more information on how you can register before all spaces fill up. Based on our academic data, attending Summer Advantage really works! We are over 80% enrolled, so the spaces are filling up FAST!!! It is time to register for Summer Advantage! We look forward to fun summer learning with your scholar(s)!
Have you completed your intent to return? I surely hope so! I will let you in on a little secret...the Enrollment Team has a few incentives in the works, so the earlier you re-register, the better your chances of winning! If you need assistance, please see below and Ms. Baker will be happy to assist you.
We look forward to seeing your scholar(s) on Monday, March 31, 2025 for week 33 of our school year! Our Grades 6-12 scholars begin their school day at 8:00am and our Grades K-5 scholars begin at 8:30am.
Have a wonderful and safe Spring Break! We will miss you!
With Gratitude,
Dr. Townsend, Principal

¡¡¡EL TIEMPO DE INSCRIPCIÓN PARA EL PROGRAMA VENTAJA DE VERANO ES AHORA!!!
Getting back into the groove after spring break can be tough, but the end of the school year is in sight! Here are a few ways to boost motivation and finish strong:
Set Mini Goals- break down the remaining weeks into smaller goals (e.g. finishing a project, studying for an exam) to make the workload feel more manageable.
Create a Countdown- Mark the last day of school or finals on your calendar so you can visually track your progress.
Find an Accountability Buddy- Team up with a friend to stay on track and keep each other motivated.
Change up your Routine- A new study spot, playlist, or schedule can refresh your energy.
Reward yourself- Plan small rewards for completing tasks (e.g. go outside and play, watching an episode of your favorite show).
Stay Active & Rested- Exercise and good sleep help keep your energy and focus up.
Remember your “Why”- Think about your long-term goals and how finishing strong will set you up for success.
