Assessment Update – Juniors ACT
All juniors will participate in state testing on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. Freshmen, sophomores, and seniors will not be in attendance on April 9.
During the week of February 5, junior Eagle Time classes will spend time preparing students for testing. This will include creating their myACT accounts so students may view their score reports online, distributing paperwork, and discussing how to prepare for testing.
You can support your junior in the following ways:
- Have a conversation about colleges, universities, scholarship agencies, or other institutions your student may want to have receive their scores. With parental consent, up to four recipients may be selected prior to testing. The cost is $18.50 per recipient if requested after testing. More information about various score recipients may be found here.
- Discuss ACT’s Educational Opportunity Service (EOS), and decide as a family if it’s a good idea for your student to opt in. More information may be found here.
- Talk about how your student is using the ACT Online Prep (AOP) software that has been provided to all Central High students. Students login using an app or by going to this website: http://onlineprep.act.org. Username: OPS email address. Password: OPS student ID number. Using the “Study Plan” option is the best choice for students who are just getting started with AOP.
You may also wish to preview the two forms students will bring home during the week of 2/5. This includes the consent form to opt-in with the EOS and send score reports ( English Version; Spanish Version) and a permission form for students to leave prior to dismissal if they are done with testing ( English Version; Spanish Version). More information will be shared with students about both forms during Eagle Time in early February.
Please note that it is not necessary for families to register students for the test on 4/9. This is done automatically, and all fees are paid by the Nebraska Department of Education.
Thank you for supporting your student on this important milestone event! A strong performance on the ACT increases the opportunities and choices for students after high school. We look forward to seeing our junior Eagles soar!

Winter Weather Procedures
-
Our district works proactively to make the best decision possible when winter weather or emergencies require us to adjust our regular learning routines.
Our toolkit of alternatives includes the following options:
- Remote Learning Day
- School Closure (no remote learning, schools are closed and district offices remain open)
- District Closure (no remote learning, schools and district offices are closed)
- Late Start (two-hour delay)
- Early Release (two-hour early dismissal)
On a Remote Learning Day, teachers will contact students through email, Seesaw, Teams or Canvas with independent learning activities by 8:30 a.m. Teachers will have virtual office hours from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. if students and families have questions or wish to visit with the teacher about their academic progress. Attendance will not be taken on Inclement Weather Remote Learning Days.
Whenever possible, our district will announce changes to a daily routine the night before. However, we know weather conditions and other emergencies can develop rapidly and a decision the morning of a school day may be necessary. When that happens, we will communicate as early as possible in the morning.
We will follow our communication routines. If weather, power outages or other circumstances force a change to our normal day, we will communicate directly with all staff and families. That communication will be through email, text message and phone call. Families should ensure their contact information is current in Infinite Campus. We will also share the information on our website and through local media.
