GENERAL SCHOOL NEWS
Saturday Academy Starts October 12th
Greetings CMIT South Family,
We can't wait to kick off Saturday Academy on October 12, 2024, and we're thrilled that you are interested in our program! You have the option to pick from two sessions: 9:00 am-10:30 am and 10:40 am -12:30 pm, or you can join us for both sessions. Your scholars will be dropped off and picked up at the usual spot. Look for the banner outside the door that we'll use every Saturday – it's the only entrance for students. I'll be there to welcome your scholars, sign them in, and guide them to where they need to be. See you there!
What do I need from you and your scholar?
I need your scholar to know what he/she needs assistance with. Upon entering the first questions I will ask them are. What grade are you in and what do you need help with today? Are you staying for both sessions?
Parents/guardians, it's important to ensure that your scholar has a snack if they plan to stay for both sessions, as it's a long time without something to eat. While I will make an effort to provide a snack each Saturday, it may not always be what they prefer.
Respect for our time together is crucial. While we are committed to providing a service, we also have families to attend to on the weekends. Please ensure that you pick up your child on time.
Should you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me gjones@cmitsouth.org. I look forward to seeing you on Saturdays.
Sincerely,
Ms. Jones

Another exciting week for CMIT South athletics is in the books! Here’s a quick look back at the action and what’s ahead for our teams.
Varsity Volleyball traveled to Laurel this past week to take on our favorite opponent (cue the sarcasm)—CMIT North. It was a hard-fought match, but unfortunately, we took our first loss of the season, 3-1. On a brighter note, our JV Volleyball team came through with a 2-1 victory! Our Varsity squad will aim to bounce back this week as we face Oxon Hill and College Park Academy.
Varsity Boys Soccer had just one game this week, falling to Fairmont Heights 5-1 on Monday. However, our JV Soccer team plays today at 3:00 p.m. against Fairmont Heights and is aiming to improve their record to 2-0-2. Exciting news for next week: we will be hosting our very first home soccer game as our boys take on CMIT North on our brand-new field! The match is set for Tuesday, October 8th, at 4:00 p.m., and we can't wait to cheer on our Tigers!
Golf hit the links at Enterprise Golf Course, with our team continuing to show steady improvement. A special shout-out goes to Trinity Smith, who remains on track to finish as one of the top three female golfers in the county. Congratulations to all our golfers for their hard work and progress!
