National History Has Showcase at Brasch Mitchell!
Our LHS and LMS National History Day participants showcased their hard work and creativity in last night's annual History Day Contest with The Wallace at the Brasch Mitchell Building. Through individual and group exhibits, papers, documentaries, websites, and performances, students demonstrated their knowledge in truly unique ways. Students had to think of a topic from any aspect of local, regional, national, or world history for the NHD 2025 Contest Theme: Rights & Responsibilities in History. Students complete extensive research for their project to answer any question a judge might ask. National History Day teaches critical thinking, writing, and research skills; prepares students for college, work, and citizenship; and inspires students to do more than they ever thought possible. We #expectexcellence are so proud that Levelland ISD offers this program where we can see excellence in students' learning. We send out a special thanks to Coach Braziel and Mrs. Magee for their dedication and ongoing efforts to make this event a success each year. We also thank The Wallace for their continued partnership in creating an engaging learning environment for our kids! (Photos courtesy Arlette Silva) https://files.gabbart.com/455/nhs25video.mp4

All of these will be used after high school for success in the real world! Thank you, Mrs. Belcher for coaching your kids to success!

Mean, Mode and More in Math
Mrs. Stephanie Luna's LMS Math class has been busy learning about mean, median, mode, and range. They have learned how to identify the mean, mean, mode, and range of a set of numbers and even had a chance to explore outside the classroom! Thank you, Mrs. Luna for making math memorable!
Super Bowl Marketing & Advertising
For Super Bowl weekend, Mr. Hill’s LHS Business and Marketing classes studied Super Bowl Marketing and Advertising. Students started the week by analyzing data from the two teams to make a prediction on the winner of the Big Game. This teaches how to use and analyze data to make an informed decision. Students were then able to view and analyze some famous Super Bowl commercials from the past and discuss the marketing strategies companies use to get the most out of their $7-8 million investment for a 30-second spot. Students watched the ads during Super Bowl Sunday yesterday and will be analyzing the new commercials based on the same marketing strategies this week. Mr. Hill's classes will wrap up next week by creating a Super Bowl ad of their own. LHS is so proud of these CTE courses that give students skills for success after high school!
Choir Students Heading to State
LHS Choir Director Joshua Ballard shares that his students participated in the Solo and Ensemble UIL Contest. These 10 students got 7 medals for acing their solos. Emily, Andy, and Shiloh will go to state for acing the hardest difficulty of solos. LHS Senior Emily Perez #expectsexcellence and says, "Frenship High School hosted UIL Solo and Ensemble for choirs in the Region. Solo and ensemble was a great experience for us students to not only get out of our comfort zone by singing in front of a judge, but to also get feedback that will help us individually as singers. Those who got a perfect score on the hardest difficulty of solo will sing at State UIL solo and ensemble later this school year. The trip to State will be overnight and will allow students to gain close relationships with others who will also be going to State." Congratulations to these singers and Mr. Ballard!
Lion's Club Honorees
Our Levelland Lion's Club Honored the LMS Students of the Month kids at lunch today. These students were nominated by their teachers for Being Respectful, Being Responsible, Doing their job, and for Going Above and Beyond every day! Congratulations to these LMS students for setting the way for others to follow! Thank you to The Lion's Club for your continued support of recognizing our students for a job well done!
Ninja Jump Rope Challenge
Capitol students got a chance to show off their jump rope skills recently during the Jump Rope Ninja Challenge in Kristy Sanders' PE classes. They were challenged to jump a certain number of consecutive jumps to earn different belt colors in the challenge. The students who completed the most consecutive jumps were then able to challenge some of the faculty and staff at Capitol! We even had two students reach numbers in the 200’s! It's so great to see the entire school involved! Congratulations to our employees for making it through too! This is fun!
SPC Senior Sneak Peek!
South Plains College hosted their annual Senior Sneak Peek today for our students and students from far and wide. SPC President Robin Satterwhite welcomed every student before the Program Showcase that introduced students to a variety of over 85 choices in careers and skills: from nursing to welding, from psychology to geology, from criminal justice to theater, and more! They answered questions on finances, scholarships, and opportunities. We thank the South Plains College staff for always making the extra effort to welcome our students and show them things they might become interested in after high school so that they can become productive citizens. It was great to see some LHS Alumni too! This is always a great day!
