Meeting Notes Summary
Welcome Introductions- Ascendra Donald welcomed everyone and reviewed the SpEd Advisory Council’s mission and goals.
Program Spotlight- Amanda Edwards, special education teacher, described programming for the Structured Learning Center 2 Program, which includes life skills, vocational skills, and community outings. Additionally, student aids/peer models support building peer relationships through the puzzle club and unified sports.
Team Discussion- The team discussed planning for the upcoming resource fair and finalized details for the event. Additionally, the team began planning for activities during the 2024-25 school year, to include more sensory friendly activities and providing more information to families about activities available in the area that provided more inclusive opportunities.
