This week's rundown while MAKING GAINS
Hello Raider Families!
We hope this message finds you well. As always, your partnership and support are what make our Raider community truly exceptional!
A huge thank you to all families for helping us achieve our attendance goals! With your commitment to ensuring your students are here on time each day, we’ve made tremendous strides, climbing toward the top and fostering a stronger learning environment for everyone. Keep up the fantastic work—we appreciate you!
This week, we’ll conduct a lockdown drill as part of our safety preparedness efforts. Please take a few moments to discuss with your student the importance of this practice and the need to take it seriously. Your support is invaluable in helping us create a safe and secure environment for all.
CIS is now taking donations for Thanksgiving Dinner Baskets. If you are interested in donating, please scroll down to the CIS section of the newsletter for details. Your generosity makes a difference in helping our families have a wonderful holiday season.
On October 29th from 5:15-6:15, the Ysleta Independent School District invites all 8th grade parents to attend the 2024 College Career Night at Eastwood High School. The purpose of this meeting is to provide information about the different educational opportunities and graduation plans available to your child once he/she enters high school.
College Career Night will assist you and your child in choosing a required high school “endorsement pathway,” which outlines a series of courses your child may take at Eastwood High School that provide in-depth knowledge of a particular area or industry.
Below are the five endorsement pathways offered at Ysleta ISD:
- Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM): Courses related to science, advanced math, engineering, computer science and technology
- Business and Industry: Courses related to accounting, marketing, construction, graphic design, and agricultural science
- Public Services: Courses related to health sciences, education, law enforcement, and hospitality
- Arts and Humanities: Courses related to political science, world languages, history, English literature, and fine arts
- Multidisciplinary: A variety of courses from each of the other four endorsements
More information on endorsements will be provided at the meeting, as well as opportunities for your child to earn job certification upon completing an endorsement pathway. High school counselors and administrators will also be available at the meeting to answer questions you or your child may have about selecting an endorsement. Please scroll down to review the HB5 Night flyer.
On Thursday October 31st, YISD will have an early release day for Professional Development. Students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m., and we kindly ask that you pick them up on time so our faculty and staff can begin their development activities promptly at 12:45 p.m. Thank you for your cooperation!
Get ready for some Halloween fun! On October 31st, students are welcome to wear costumes to school. Please refer to the flyer below for the costume guidelines to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience. If you have any questions, our front office team is happy to help.
Thank you again for your continued support and partnership. Have a fantastic week and a safe, spooky Halloween!
Best regards,
Your Raider Principal
Steven Zubiate

Attendance Tip of the Week:
Attendance Tip of the Week: Check your child’s backpack weekly. Occasionally important letters (such as a medical excuse for last Thursday’s absence) can become lost in a full backpack. Organizing its contents weekly improves your chances of finding these documents while they are still useful.
Thank you!

SAFETY
CAMPUS SAFETY PROCEDURES
As some of you may have noticed, the district is currently improving our front visitor's vestibule area. As the work progresses, we will need to make some adjustments to ensure we keep our campus safe. Please read the procedures outlined below so you are prepared in the event you need to enter our school building during the school day.
- All visitors must have a valid picture ID.
- Be prepared to show your ID outside of the campus after notifying the receptionist you have arrived, and to have it scanned in our Hall Pass system for a quick background check.
- The doors on the right-hand side are to ENTER the campus only. Doors on the left-hand side are to EXIT the building.
- Should you need to sign your child out for an appointment or the day, you will do so inside of the visitor's vestibule. You may wait inside the vestibule or just outside the front doors for your child.
- The receptionist will check to make sure the person picking up your child is authorized to do so as listed in our student information system.
- Your child will be called down to the visitor's center. As they pass through the area our receptionist will note they are ok to leave, at which time they will exit the building out of the exit only (left-hand side) doors. As you see them come through, you can meet them just outside the campus doors.
- Should you need to come inside the campus at or shortly after dismissal, you will be stopped at the door by an adult who will ask you the reason for your visit. They will communicate with the front office to make sure you are approved entry and you will be permitted to make your way to the front office for further assistance.
- In order to comply with state mandates to safely and effectively control a single entry point for our campus, we are unable to accept food deliveries for your student during lunch. Our visitor center receptionist must remain focused on the task of monitoring entry, check in and processing of identification, monitoring student sign-outs and so on. Again, this is to ensure the safety and security of our single campus entry point. Thank you for your understanding.
Thank you for your flexibility and understanding of our new visitor's area procedures. It is up to all of us to help keep our campus (students & adults) safe, and we appreciate your support and partnership in doing so.
If you have any questions or concerns, please make campus administration aware and we can assist you.
