Bi-Weekly Update - September 3, 2020
What should I expect during our 50/50 Hybrid Instructional Model?
On the days when the students are in school, teachers will be providing instruction to advance learning based on our academic content standards. Teachers will also be preparing students for their 'at home' learning day which will consist of various different activities depending on the course. All online material will be available on the individual teacher's Schoology page.
Since teachers are instructing all of their classes five days per week in the hybrid model, they will have limited availability to provide support to students learning at home. However, students have access to their teachers through email or communication boards in Schoology.
Students are expected to complete their online work each day to be prepared for their next 'in person' school day.
How do I know if I am in Maroon or Gold?
Using a desktop or laptop computer, students can log into their PowerSchool account and look at the banner at the top of the page indicating; Track A - Maroon or Track B - Gold (Seniors: Track D - Maroon and Track E - Gold).
The September 2020 instructional calendar image is below.
Review of Important High School Expectations
- Students should report directly to their first period class at 7:50 a.m.
- Students are required to wear their E + R = O lanyard and student I.D. badge everyday while at school. Students will also use their I.D. when signing in late or leaving early. Please review the District's Attendance Policies.
- Students should bring their own water bottles, preferably labeled with their names. Water fountains will be turned off and unavailable for refills for safety purposes. Water can be purchased at lunch.
- Chrome Books and iPads are required for all students to meet state testing requirements. If you have not yet picked up a device, you may visit the NAHS Library during school hours, tomorrow.
- Students will not be permitted to use lockers until further notice.
- No visitors or volunteers will be allowed on campus at this time.
- Office hours are offered between 7:30 am and 7:50 am, Monday through Friday. We strongly recommend scheduling this time with your teacher in advance for safety purposes.
- Masks are required for everyone unless an exemption has been approved. Exemption forms should be returned to the building. Principals and the clinic nurse will review and make determination of exemption status.

School Lunch Clarification
For the start of the 2020-2021 school year, we are developing plans for limiting student interaction and establishing contact tracing protocols for our lunchroom. We have modified our lunchroom expectations, procedures, and spaces to respond to the social distancing requirements established by the Office of the Governor and Franklin County Public Health. Lunch will look and feel different this year. Students should prepare and expect the following in our cafeteria:
- Selection of a lunch seat on the first day of school.
- Submission of lunch table and seat number via Google Form.
- Awareness about the menu choices prior to entering lunchroom.
- Purchase of food from the lunch lines in a boxed lunch format.
- Assignment to a specific lunch line to purchase food based on the selected lunch seat - Every line will have the same offerings.
- Sitting and eating at your lunch seat everyday.
- After finishing lunch and pending weather, students must remain seated or may choose to walk around outside while socially distancing themselves.
Important Note - Lunch seat assignments will change if we move to a different instructional model. On September 8th and 9th students will be selecting their seat for our 50/50 hybrid model only. When we return to "all-in," students will select new lunch seats.
