Doyon News
October 18, 2024
Dear Doyon Families,
I hope that you all enjoyed the long weekend! While the weather was mostly rainy, my hope is that you were able to rest and enjoy time as families. Students returned to school on Wednesday eager to participate in all the learning activities that awaited them. Learners quickly returned to routines and reconnected with teachers and peers. While our week was short, it was certainly full of fun!
Students in grade two participated in Mini-Movement Workshops coordinated by our wonderful third grade teacher, Mrs. Welch. A big thank you to our community partners for joining us here at school to lead our students in movement. Our monthly School Council meeting was held on Wednesday evening. We discussed our School Improvement Plan and areas of focus for the 2024-2025 school year. That same evening, our FRIES team joined us at school to discuss the good work that can be done to offer resources and support to students and teachers. Thank you to the many who choose to participate in growing our community.
A group of students participating in a public speaking class at the Ipswich High School joined us at the Doyon school on Friday. A big thank you to the High School for being present at school to collaborate with our elementary learners. I am grateful that we learn within a collaborative PreK to 12 structure, so that connections can be fostered amongst all learners in our school community.
Please be sure to review updates in this edition of the Doyon News and, as always, reach out if you need anything.
Warmly,
Mr. Whitehouse-Mullen

Nurse's Notes π©Ί
Hello Doyon Families!
Well, the upset stomachs continue here at Doyon-mostly in the younger grades. I am seeing this as very quick (less than 24 hours) with vomiting only a few times, recovering fairly quickly, but persistent tiredness.
Treatment is supportive care: offering very small amounts of fluids and advancing diet as tolerated, but keeping their diet bland. The biggest thing to watch for is signs of dehydration.
Students can return to school when they are fever free for 24 hours and when they are generally feeling better, which in this case means they can keep down fluids/foods and have enough energy.
Please let me know as I try to track illnesses we are seeing at school.
Stay healthy!
Mary
