Post Sixteen Learners
Managing changing times - an opportunity to explore the changing face of the learner who enters school sixth forms and how much change can be factored into the way in which they approach learning in school. Differentiation is often greatest in a Year 12 or Year 13 lesson where aspirations and links to future employment or programmes of study in university are varied. How does one approach dealing with these critical and informative years of education. These ideas and more will be discussed in this session.
Courageous Curiosity and Brave Learning the Marginal Learning Gains way
Marginal Learning Gains is all about building on the great pedagogical repertoire you already have and squeezing as much value out of it as possible. This workshop will give you an insight into how the approach can be used to address those tricky little missed opportunities that make the difference between learner-participation and learner-engagement. This will be a no-brakes exploration with the brilliant Zoë Elder, taking you through a worked example of how Marginal Learning Gains can be used to unravel a specific ‘learning concern’. Focusing specifically on ‘brave learning’ as a step towards interdependent learning. We’ll explore practical strategies that brick-by-brick build a culture of risk-taking and brave learning.
Dare to be different!
In this workshop, Nina Jackson (@musicmind) will talk about differentiation and inclusion. Expect fantastic and outrageously funny, engaging and exciting ideas to electrify students in their learning in your classroom.
