Crusader Chronicle
October 2024
Dear Crusader Families,
We have several important updates to share that highlight ways we can come together as a community.
Hurricane Relief for Florida:
Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the recent hurricanes in Florida. We are organizing efforts to support relief initiatives. The American Heritage Girls troop is collecting items for those impacted by the hurricanes in Florida. If you’d like to contribute or get involved, please check the information below for details on how you can help.
Volunteer Opportunities:
There are numerous opportunities to volunteer within our school and parish. Whether you can volunteer in the library, help during lunch/recess, or support our parish activities, your involvement makes a difference! Look for more information below regarding different opportunities you can sign up for to help the school and parish community!
Upcoming Events:
Mark your calendars! We have a variety of events planned in the coming weeks.
School Uniform Update:
The Cold Weather uniform begins November 1. No shorts will be allowed as part of the school uniform starting Friday, November 1. There will be a uniform exchange set up soon if you would like to check out some of the uniforms we currently have on hand.
Thank you for your continued support and commitment to our community.
Gratefully,
Sarah Bitzer

There are three options below.
A former Cincinnati Catholic school administrator and Catholic Schools Office employee, Chris Pastura, is now the superintendent of the Diocese of St. Petersburg, Florida. We reached out to Chris to ask how we could help as we know that area was heavily impacted by the hurricane. One of their PK-8 schools and one of their early childhood centers incurred extensive damage and the students have been relocated. We asked Chris what they need most, and he said donations which will help with school supplies, books, and basic essentials for the students. If your school would like to contribute, donation checks can be made out to the Diocese of St. Petersburg Hurricane Relief. Mail the following address:
Diocese of St. Petersburg
Attn: Chris Pastura
PO Box 40200
St. Petersburg, FL

Gregory Monroe is the superintendent of the Diocese of Charlotte, North Carolina. They have established a fund to support the recovery efforts for schools that suffered extensive damage in Ashville and North Carolina. Many families and faculty are struggling with basic needs such as access to clean water and fuel, and most are still without power or reliable cell service. Contributions will provide essential needs that were destroyed by the storm like backpacks, school supplies, and books as well as ongoing operating needs to help rebuild a sense of normalcy for students and staff who will be affected for months to come. If your school would like to assist, contributions will be accepted through this link: [https://charlottediocese.org/giving/donations-for-mountain-schools-nc/]
Catholic Charities is also assisting those who were impacted by the hurricane. See the article about their work and options for donations.

Crusader Shout-Outs
Mrs. Grau had all of the K-8 students complete a running competition. The goal was to see how many laps each student could run in 2 minutes. The laps were added up to determine which class was the fastest class. Congratulations to the 5th grade class who had the highest average number of laps within 2 minutes!
The competition will occur in the winter and spring, so all K-8 classes have 2 more chances to try and win the fastest class title.
