Jeff Koons from Horace Mann is planning to come in for an informational session for teachers about 403b plans on Wednesday, September 27th. Please complete this Google form by Friday, 9/15 to help us gauge interest and plan. He is coming for an optional 8:10, but is willing to stay during the day if anyone wants to meet individually.

For this year, we are asking you to divide your team equally into Math or ELA for Vertical Discussion Groups. We will have our first meeting on Friday, September 22 at 8:10. ELA will be in the MPR and Math will be in the Media Center. Please send ONE EMAIL as a team to Megan and Jen to let us know who will be in each group. The plan is to meet monthly this year.

Assessment Plans

HERE is the plan for assessment supports from the intervention team. They will only be supporting new teachers for Acadience. They will resume groups the rest of that week. Then, they will support F&P testing for two weeks. The last week of F&P assessments, they will be circling back to dig deeper on kiddos that we feel need it so we can group and design appropriate instruction.

In the meantime, you should be testing your kiddos and working with your team towards efficient test practices. That will obviously look different at all levels!

Data Analysis

We will be having an 8:10 to review Acadience data and support initial grouping plans the first week of October. Then, on October 20 during the early dismissal, we will be working to confirm or adjust groups and instructional needs so new FLIGHT groups can start on Monday, October 23. FLIGHT SHOULD ALREADY BE HAPPENING WITH YOUR CURRENT DATA in all grades and teams.

Math visitation by elementary principals and Dr. Dishong will take place on 9/21 in the morning. As shared at BLT, we will be collecting big picture information about the Mathematical Practices and are NOT using this data as part of any evaluation. We will going to MORNING math classes this month from 9-11ish.

On 11/7, Dr. Dishong will be coming to read to classes/ teams. If you want to sign up, do so HERE. This is first come, first served. If you don't get a slot this time, you can go the next time :)

Lanyards - please make sure learners are wearing their colored lanyards with labeled badges every day. This allows everyone to quickly and easily identify which house they are in on Tuesdays, with ticket drop off every day, and also helps us get learners where they need to go as they transition through the building. On other days of the week, it helps identify learners and ensure everyone wandering the halls is supposed to be here!

Twisted Tuesday - 9/19: Resiliency

Check the schedule to see if you are in a House week or family week. Then, check the resources shared by the Heads of Household so you are prepared. Make sure you wait for announcements to transition so everyone is moving together both in and out of family/ house activities.

For house weeks, you will use the gym or the media center, NOT the cafeteria. Anti-bullying, Leadership, and Problem Solving houses will use the media center. Helping Others, Positive Change, and Resiliency will use the gym.

Passing out Team Tickets - Remember the 3 Points: Child's name, foundation they are displaying, and the specific behavior. Are you passing out those tickets? There might be an incentive coming soon!

At this point, everyone should be following the published schedule for instruction and recess. If your class has earned an extra recess or needs an extra movement break, you are free to do so. However, you may not overlap another grade/ class recess that is already scheduled out on the playground so that we are not overcrowded and unsafe on the equipment. Consider using the lower field or green top (IF gym class is not there), courtyard, or a classroom brain break instead.

FLIGHT should also be up and running at least within your own classroom at this time and CAN be running with groups across classes. Our goal is to complete BOY assessments 9/25-10/5 Acadience, and 10/2-10/20 F&P and then start (or resume) groups across classes on 10/23. Please begin preparing for this now by figuring out which levels/ skills will be in each room at a minimum. Time will be given to finalize groups and discuss plans with intervention and admin at 10/20 early dismissal so FLIGHT is running 10/23.

Review THIS SCHEDULE for supervision this year. If you are on formal observation, note which month you are scheduled and with which administrator. You will need to meet with that administrator to schedule your pre conference, observation, and post conference.

HERE is the Google Doc to sign up to attend PTO meetings and events. We ask that everyone attends at least one meeting and one event to support this group that is working hard to support us.

The PTO is planning to run trunk or treat again and hoping to have more staff participation. Understanding that the "treats" part is cost prohibitive, they will be collecting donations and passing it out to staff who are running trunks.
